It's a new week and this week's selections are now available:

PatsFans.com Weekly NFL Picks Contest

Again, congrats to @MrTibbs, @Tunescribe and @rochrist for last week's win, well done. I'll be in touch with each of you directly regarding your prize. I still also have to get the one for the week before for @DarrylS, so I'll try and get those out in the next day or so.

It's another clean slate, so good luck to everyone this week!

4 people went 15-0.
Nice work.

After TNF some tough games this week

Two of my winning picks which I changed was suspiciously not recorded. But I'm not one to gossip so you didn't hear it from me.

Jets @ Miami yikes! watch Miami knock themselves out of the Tua Tagovailoa sweepstakes.

Nice work.

Just before kickoff I got cold feet on picking the Chargers over the Bears, so I switched at almost the last minute to the Bears. Doh! I could have been 15-0 too.

The income potential of some people here (sports betting) is remarkable.

71 and 48...still better than most analysts...

Extremely impressed by all who went 15-0. Awesome picking skills!

It would be interesting to measure how these picks would translate in moneyline picks.

Regards,
Chris

There is a government sports bet in Canada called "Pools" where you pick all winners straight up with a $5 ticket. The people with the most picks correct share in what is usually a $300k plus pool.

Often the winning portion is upwards of $15k, although last week was only $240 (I'm sure you would have made more with a $5, 14 game parlay). I've seen it as high as the full pot for a single winner.

I got them all correct once (but was an easy week, only won $1400).

Sounds cool. Even if that pool ran just in this site, I'd be down $40 for the year.

This is in need of a bump.

I thought spreads were invented to prevent knowledgeable sports fans from getting too rich. At least, you'd need to know more than whether a team would win or lose. Then again, I don't know anything about betting and maybe there is a category where you just pick games straight up. Based on a post above me, sounds like at least Canada has something like this.

On another note, I'm an idiot and can't figure out how to get to the results. All I get when I click the link in this thread or through the top bar is the page that lets me pick this week's games, but I've only managed to find the results when a link is posted in one of these threads. What am I doing wrong?

Open the menu (top left) and expand the NFL Picks section, weekly and season results are listed there.

Straight up bets are readily available and are made against the moneyline. The cost of taking an obvious favorite is usually prohibitive, hence the spreads. @Ian was thoughtful enough to allow a gambling thread to flourish thus keeping the degenerate discussions from tasking the patience of everyone else. Swing on by there sometime, there's almost always discussion there among us reprobates and some of it is even useful. Certainly a place you can get questions answered, occasionally even in an intelligible semi-literate way

OT-ish: The gambling thread
