NFL to shorten time between first-round picks to eight minutes

How do you cram an extra hour of commercials in when it is 8 minutes between picks? The actual draft has to be shorter. My understanding is that each pick's time on the clock starts directly after the previous pick ended. Therefore 8 times 32 is shorter than 10 times 32.

Maybe using the word cram was unfortunate or you didn't consider the math or you mean extra commercials for the post-analysis hour?
2 extra minutes between picks x 32 teams = 64 minutes.

You think the show is going to be shorter? 4 minutes shorter. First round of the draft is it's own day all by itself.

Edit: Twitter has the picks several minutes before they're announced. Everyone will magically use all 8 of their minutes, despite the picks already being in.

If the picks last 8 minutes instead of 10 minutes than the actual draft is 64 minutes shorter. There could be a pre draft show, a post draft show, etc. but the draft itself will be shorter. There might be the same amount of commercials with less talking, but sitting there waiting for picks will take less time.

The NFL must have done a survey and people complained a lot. The NFL is good at changing and adjusting compared to MLB.

Here's another easy way to shorten it--the team with the #1 pick gets 0 minutes. Walk out, open the draft and simply say "With the first pick in the draft..."

Although even those guys might be fielding a phone call. Don't know why, they just might be. Do you want to penalize them for other guys wanting to make that calll last minute?
