Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

I know Trey Millard is the FB that most interests people but JC Copeland is my guy. He's not as limber as Millard but he's...wait for it... 5'11 and 270lbs

Now imagine Blount running behind that. That's a lot of bulk to truck over the modern day 230lb LB.

Now further imagine Blount running behind him....who in turn is running behind Gronk, Solder and Mankins

I'll throw ASJ in too because I'm a fan. Today's defenses are getting smaller. A heavy package like this, especially with Blount's breakaway speed could destroy these new defenses. Especially as we still have TB.

Is there a reason to believe that he would be a significant upgrade on 251# James Develin as a blocking fullback? I don't know enough about Copeland to form an opinion, but it seems like BB is pretty happy with Develin in that role, whereas Millard, FWIW, offers a somewhat different skill set.

Yeah, Millard is dynamic. He's much more than just a fullback. I liken him to Marcel Reece who I'd love to have here, or a big version of Kevin Faulk.

I don't know much about Copeland, and I by no means intend to squelch enthusiasm for him. I've always felt that Millard offered a complementary skill set to Develin and that the Pats could use him as an H-back and squeeze him into the numbers, whereas more of a pure blocking TE would essentially be competing with Develin for a roster spot. Of course, any position can be upgraded, and if Copeland is that good, then more power to him.

Lol....Yes I am, I was thinking the Packers might be really interested in him as well. I was thinking the Cowboys might try and go after d-line first and then safety. I really hope Jerry losses it and drafts offense with their first pick.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones go D-line if they cut Ware.

This is what takes him off my board. Any type of involvement in a rape case and I have 0 interest.

Did not play after being dismissed from the team after conditional guilty plea for his role in attempting to cover up rape of unconscious student.

I love Copeland's blocking. He is more a Vonta Leach dominant lead blocker where Millard is the versatile Marcel Reece type FB. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing both to camp because they both offer something different. I think Copeland would be competing with Devlin for the traditional FB spot (and I think he would be an upgrade) while Millard would more likely compete with the #3 or #4 TE for snaps. Millard was also Oklahoma's best special teams player so he offers a lot of versatility to the roster.

Holy smokes at Benjamin. He's bigger than Megatron.

Benjamin could make some serious money tomorrow. He (and Mike Evans) has a real chance to push for that #1 WR spot with a standout performance.

I want to win too badly to make broad statements like that. More importantly, I don't know the whole story. If I was a GM you can bet I'd get to the bottom of it, but I'm not. I've read that it was a one-time lapse in judgment, and he's been a choir boy since. That's good enough for me. Hopefully he'll carry this as a chip on his shoulder. I love those guys.

I agree and I'm glad the Marcel Reece comparison caught on. I'm not sure who Millard would compete with, if anyone. Reece is officially listed as a FB, but he's just as much of a RB, H-Back, and TE. He even gets snaps at WR.

Good. Let them push the real talent down.

Pay attention to the short shuttle today for the OL. It is supposed to be one of the better indicators for future success that the combine offers. Also, the below comment from Box O'Rocks was one I've always remembered from my first year on Patsfans:

Hudson and Rackley fail the athleticism standards Scar looks for in his round one and two OL: 30" vertical, 4.5 short shuttle, 7.5 3-cone, and 1.85 10 split (or better in each area).

@NEPD_Loyko: #Patriots have met with #LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr. at the Combine

Missed this yesterday.

Just shows what the hype means, I was a tad disappointed by this but for any other prospect, these would be outstanding numbers.

@MoveTheSticks: Jadeveon Clowney 6'5 1/4 266. 34 1/2 inch arms.

I cant wait to see his workout numbers

Bruce Feldman ?@BFeldmanCBS
Almost 10 lbs lighter than last yr when SC clocked him at 4.54 & he VJed 38 RT @MoveTheSticks Jadeveon Clowney 6'5 1/4 266. 34 1/2 inch arms

Joel Bitonio 5.00 40 1st run. Unofficial 10 yard split of 1.68 very fast - Kyle Long has the fastest recorded split at 1.70 last year. Logan Mankins was 1.79.

Mayock calls him a 2nd round pick. He'd make a great guard/tackle prospect, and possibly even could convert to center (he played it at the Senior Bowl practices and reportedly looked good).
