New MSNBC article calls for BB's suspension

This story became out of control yesterday.

I woke up this morning hoping things would improve. Guess not.

The next "writer" will suggest appropriate punishment would be a firing squad.

I'm over it.

Come on guys. "The writer" of this article is Ron Borges.

You didnt see him in the second Jet game as he went towards Mangini needlessly, boorishly shoving camera men who were doing their jobs?

The Camera man backed into him, I agree that he should have been shoved out of the way. He was IN THE WAY !!

Guys, this is how I see it.

1) This is going to be the media's attempt to take a dump all over BB after his 'treatment' of them. BB is very tight-lipped making the media's job difficult. They see a window opening and the bitter ones are going to charge right through it, some may even dispute their whole SB run thinking that this type of behavior may have extended back to 2001.

2) BB may not be found 'totally' guilty. There is a grey area here and many teams are in it. Some people would call it a competitive advantage. What is the difference if someone has a video camera or not. Stealing signals is stealing signals. I would not be surprised if the Patriots did it, HOWEVER I am thinking many many teams do this. I am thinking it is common, very common. So what.

3) What is happening here will be grounds for the NFL to perhaps clarify some rules. If there is one thing I suspect it is that many teams bend the rules to the breaking point. I am sure that is what BB may have done here. Going forward we may see some different rules somehow clearly being able to enfore the current ones.

4) BB prepares his team better that anyone in the NFL. He gives them the best opportunity to win, wherever and however. He is a competitive person. He wants to win at the highest level, as we all would like to do.

5) This will not be going away, the media will be sure not to let it.

My line of thinking, as a NE fan, is soley based on #4. He prepares, studies, looks for a competitive edge in whatever way he can even if it means bending the rules. He may be a sore loser but most people are. He takes his job very seriously (obviously). Whatever the outcome, he goes to fight for his team, head office and fans. This is a man that is welcome in my corner.

If I were BB, I'd put someone out there with a fake toy camera next week. Bust some balls BB.

I am not even sure why this is a story.

"NFL Team tries to figure out opposition's in-game signals to gain advantage"

Shocking!

I 100% agree there is a grey area where many teams reside and I bet there is an understanding about that area. Unfortunately, the Patriots are no longer part of it. Too much success.

I just love how all other fans are self-righteously bashing us, as if their teams are pure as freshly fallen snow. Whatever. This has happened before....it's happened to us and we had to get over it. Now our hugely successful franchise is being made a scapegoat. What an amazing coincidence.

I am amazed at the whole article which blissfully ignores facts and has a clear cut objective of smearing BB as much as possible. Maybe we fans should do a little bit of digging to find out who this "Cook" is who cooked up such a malicious tale. I think someone posted elsewhere a link to his other articles that labled the Pats being desperate after the signing of AT, RM etc.

I am fuming now...

big reasons why articles like these are written and BB is bashed whenever the opportunity presents is because he NEVER responds to any of it. Even during the ted johnson allegation that he was made to play with a concussion, all BB said was he respected ted johnson. therefore BB keeps getting bashed with a baseball bat all the time....

The writer's assumptions are laughable.

CHARGE: The Patriots stole signs and won a game.
ANSWER: Was he this outraged when the Dolphins did it to the Patriots last season?

CHARGE: They also stole them against the Packers.
ANSWER: Oh, really. Since they were not going to play the Packers again, why would they bother doing it t all? This is what makes me doubt the whole story.

CHARGE: BB didn't shake Mangini's hand.
ANSWER: Would you shake hands with a snake?

CHARGE: BB pushed a cameraman out of the way.
ANSWER: He apologized to the cameraman.

CHARGE: BB didn't shake Peyton's hand after the AFCCG.
ANSWER: No, he sought him out in the lockerroom and told him how much he deserved to win, and Peyton made a point of saying that BB was gracious.

CHARGE: Tomlinson said that, as a classy player that he is, he is qualified to judge BB unclassy.
ANSWER: No defense here. When someone publicly smears you the way LT did, then it must be true. Never mind that people like Jim Brown vouch for BB's quality as a person.

CHARGE: BB was not kind to Solomon Wilcots during an interview.
ANSWER: Wilcots was trying to bait BB into saying something negative about the Colts victory. He was trying to get him to downplay it by saying the Patriots had the flu and ran out of gas. BB refused to play that game so he gave Wilcots the stock answer he deserved.

Bob Cook is a horribly bad journalist.

"Even though Belichick is far from being found culpable in the case of the Patriots employee wielding a video camera where none should be, the coach’s long history of poor sportsmanship means it hardly stretches the imagination to see him being **** Cheney in the NFL‘s version of warrantless wiretapping."

This was as far as I read. Now I feel abused (bordering on defrauded) for having clicked on the site and added to their hits. Welcome to the information superhighway where the demand for material outstrips the legitimate talent pool to provide any.

This team is approaching their home opener and arguably one of the two biggest games of the season, and this board is being overwhelmed with this crap. I really think the mods should step in and merge all videogate threads into one big sticky that those who choose to wallow in this can visit as often as they like to check the pulse of the global media and emerging troll or fan reaction.

Until there is something from the League, and not via ESPN's agenda obcessed anonymous sources but an actual statement from the league, these threads should not be allowed to render this board useless to those of us who actually care to talk about the football team.

Where is teh link?? I wish to see other stories by this putz...I agree I think they all should be exposed..

Guess what folks? If Belichick ever left the Patriots, ever team in the league would be scrambling to sign him.

I'm proud to have him as our coach. Does he try to win at all costs? ABSOLUTELY! If he didn't, I wouldn't want him as my coach! I don't want a nice guy for a coach. I want a coach that will take us to Super Bowl victories...Period, end of story.

So to see a "SORE LOSER" chargers fan posting this on OUR message board is understandible, but to see the number of Patriots fans that have posted TURNCOAT threads I suggest you recall what having Nr Nice Guy Pete Carroll did for us.

It's not good to be a sore loser as a fan...but it IS good to be a soar loser as a coach!

"Show me a good loser and I'll show you a LOSER!"

This writer, of whom I've never heard either, writes that BB has a long history of classlessness, and then nearly every example is from last season. Huh? Long History?

I think he was saying it started with his unceremonious departure from the Jets to jump to the Patriots. The article keeps calling him a sore-winner and a sore-loser. I have seen the video of BB shoving the cameraman. We all have seen BB's surly press conferences. Bill Polian and the Colts screaming that we were breaking the five yard touch rule in the AFC Championship game, causing the rules committee to change the rules and make the offense more enforceable. BB left the owners meetings early last year with no explanation. Then there was the incident that caused other posters to attack me personally and caused me to leave this board for 10 months; the whole situation with him cheating on his wife with a married woman.

I sat in a crowed auditorium for two hours and listened to BB talk about how the only thing you have is your NAME and how the most important thing you own is your REPUTATION and that it takes a lifetime to build but only a moment to destroy. At one time or another we have all defended BB on this site, myself included. In a way I am defending him now. From what I know about him, he LOVES this game and his job and it is really hard to believe he would do anything to jeopardize his job or OUR team. I mean seriously, this is our team and all of us are still going to be here long after BB leaves or retires.

As for punishment, first prove BB did it or was responsible for it. Should he be suspended for one game? I don't think so. But with this new commissioner I guess anything is possible. He has not been shy about suspending players, I don't think it would be a big step for him to suspend a coach to set an example.

I hope this is not true, I would assume that BB will take responsibility if someone on his staff did this with or without his knowledge. It's just disapointing that we are finally back playing football again after a long offseason and all that we are hearing are allegations of cheating.

Nice to see a real fan who supports his team & coach through thick & thin!! THANK YOU! I'm shocked at the number of fellow fans who are panicking and turning on Belichick. I might be mistaken, but I thought he was being paid to do one thing...WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS! Am I wrong?

The reason the media is having a field day with this story is because they don't like Belichick. He's not a good interview and he's very cold toward them. This guy even goes so far as to mention how Belichick pushed the camera guy to shake Mangini's hand. Of course he's going to defend the media idiot who had the nerve to step in his path. Media people need to accept then fact that they are virtually irrelevant. This guys article is even under the category "Opinion" on that site. And that's all it is...his opinion.

The saddest part of all is that the reason many are angry is because THEY feel insulted even though it's Belichick being accused.

I agree with your idea that ALL of these threads should be lumped together and taken off the main board...Our own fans are making this really embaressing!

Thankfully no one takes MSNBC seriously. When the only name people can link to your news business is Keith Olberman you have credibility issues.

Scapecoat?

You forgot to explain the evidence that NFL Security confiscated.

Belichek is a winner no doubt. But it would be nice to see the guy shake hands like a man after games and not go around shoving cameramen for no reason.

Exactly!!!!! Opinions are like *******; everybody's got one!

This would be a complete non-story, if the team in question was AZ Cardinals. Just because its BB, and Pats - this is being blown out of propotion. God, I was so looking forward to SD game discussions...now I have to deal with this crap!
