If your long term marriage broke up, wouldn't you be depressed? I know I would.

Being depressed is different than having clinical depression.

Tune, I cannot for the life of me imagine why your thoughts even turned to this in the first place or why you felt a compulsion to tell other people this notion of yours.

However, I can express my own judgment - what you are saying is idiotic to an extent that is almost unbelievable.

There are a couple symptom lists that are prevalent in doing an assessment of clinical depression. One is 9 items and there is a longer one of 18 items. For purposes of brevity, we'll list the 9 item one:

- Exhaustion on waking
- Disrupted sleep, sometimes through upsetting dreams
- Early morning waking and difficulty getting back to sleep
- Doing less of what they used to enjoy
- Difficulty concentrating during the day
- Improved energy as the day goes on
- Anxious worrying and intrusive upsetting thoughts
- Becoming emotional or upset for no particular reason
- Shortness of temper, or irritability

I really doubt that you have inside information on the first 3 items.
There isn't a person on this board, except I guess you, who can't see that there is NOTHING that has ever been observed or reported about Belichick on any of the last 6 items - in fact, a supposition on my part would be that, almost unanimously, folks would observe that Belichick shows up about as diametrically opposite to these items as a person can.

You are an unmitigated idiot.

p.s. The 18 item list can be found at:
http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?id=973&type=doc&cn=Depression%20(Unipolar)

Yup, because you can find a rudimentary thumbnail on depression via the web and extrapolate it to your own subjective conclusions, you are suddenly an expert and I'm an "unmitigated idiot." Oky doky then, I guess that settles it. Congratulations on your instant authority there, bub.

You continue to show no sense whatsoever.

It's not a rudimentary thumbnail. And it certainly isn't my list. It is the list of the symptoms that are widely considered to determine if a person has depression. You can find it on any number of sites, INCLUDING the National Institute of Mental Health. Unless you can come up with a different recognized list of symptoms, your comment is senseless and ignorant.

I didn't extrapolate anything. My comments were addressed to the exact list. Yes, it was my subjective opinion that Belichick hasn't, to my observation, displayed ANY of the criteria in the list - in fact, quite the opposite. By all means, if you have instances that you can refer to that contradict that for specific items on the list, by ALL MEANS, enlighten us.

I'll second arrellbee's opinion

Only an unmitigated idiot would suggest that a person suffers "mild to moderate depression" on the basis of a person not being publicly "gregarious", "socially withdrawn" or "arrogant". Only an unmitigated idiot would conclude that he can make assumptions about how a person interacts with others in private from his public interactions particularly when those assumptions are contrary to the few facts that are KNOWN about BB's personal life.

,,,,,,,,.............????????????????????? The season, PLEASE, someone tell me the season will start and BB will be there.

BB even if you have to bring the clinical thingy, please be there.................

Depression, there's another one, hmmm, just a footprint, all this for a FOOTPRINT!!!!!! :singing: Boy am I arrogant..........bye....

Here's the definition of the Introvert/Extrovert categories from a Phd. Below is a link to his page.

"Where does your ENERGY come from? Introvert or Extrovert This is not about being shy or outgoing. This is a very different definition of the terms Introvert and Extrovert; it's about your energy.

E Extraverts want to take a break by joining the party and interacting socially to get energized. E's can do solitary activity, but find it draining. They are drained by solitary situations (being at computer, hiking). E's energy is directed primarily outward, towards people and things outside of themselves. E's keep up many friendships. According to Jung, E's are "more influenced by their surroundings than by their own intentions" (302). They are energized by belonging to some crowd, society, being around people, and their sense perceptions. They will express their views out-loud to hear what they are thinking. Extroverts prefer relationships and the world of other people. Extraverts are the most resistant to burnout, while introverts are the most susceptible (Layman & Guyden, 1997).

I - Introverts take a break and head for the beach, watch TV, or read a book. They are drained by social situations, and keep a few close friends. I's can be life of party but find it draining. They like alone time, and thinking before they speak. I's energy is more directed inward (the world within), towards their own thoughts, ideas, perceptions, and reactions. Yet, according to Jung I's are more into the subjective experience, the world within (rather than the external world), and see the external world as somewhat threatening. Crowds to not energize them. They trust their own judgments and perceptions more than those of others, and will think an idea before expressing it. Isabel Briggs Myers (1995: 56) says Introverts are "more at home in the world of ideas than in the world of people and things." Introverts live in the inner world of thoughts and ideas. "

Thanks for the info. I hadn't seen that. I was trying to defend BB in the wider context of this thread.

all of this is quite silly....see nothing going on as far as moves go..and the inmates are running the asylum....

perhaps "arrogant" is a word that should be used more often to describe the "media".

Agreed, there are many, many media types in this area who make their living digging up controversy so they can talk endlessly about it all day. No controversy = long day at work for them and falling ratings.

BB doesn't give the producers ammo, so they call him arrrogant. How dare him not cooperate with the Boston negativity scene.

This doesn't sound like a guy who is getting a divorce to me:

Belichicks buy more land on Nantucket

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and his wife, Debby, bought an undeveloped piece of land on Pitman Road on Nantucket for $4.6 million. The Belichicks' new property, which is just shy of a half acre, was purchased from Elizabeth L. and Duncan V. Phillips. The Belichicks own other property on the island and spent summers there for years before he took over the helm of the Pats

Sure it's in "Sconset:"

I actually know where that property is. Used to be the back of beyond when I lived there in the 70's. Anyway, either the guy is not married anymore or he has a *great* marriage casue he was off "Roadying" with Jon BonJovi whose music I hate. Actually, I could never sign on with the "In Bill We trust" kool-aders just for that reason. Anyway, what wife lets her old man do that? Not many.

BB is totally focused on building a winning team and developing a winning strategy. He doesn't let anything or anyone stand in his way. It's frustrating not only to media folk that he won't share information, but also to players and fans. But, at the end of the day, since BB came to Foxboro the Pats have been one of the greatest teams in the history of football, so if BB bruises some egos along the way and frustrates some fans, I'm 100% okay with it, and long as he keeps providing us with top-flight football.
