Fans showed up regardless when they played outdoors in the '60s and '70s and the last two years while the new stadium was being built and they played outside at the University of Minnesota. They could've done some creative things to keep fans relatively comfortable and keep an open-air stadium. That was such a huge advantage for the Vikings back in the day and was good for football in general.

nfl rating is down both TV and attendance. and indoor does have an advantage of trapping more noise. they did try to make the stadium more outdoor like by using ton of glass.

but yeah i get your point. dome teams don't prosper in the playoffs. ask peyton manning
