New England Chicken Littles

Don't really think you can call Manning inept the year he broke the touchdown and yardage record.

And how about we add the whole having the most depleted offense in Brady's tenure here going up against one of the top defense's in the NFL. And how about we add in the fact that our defense was outplaying our offense all game and if we got that stop then we would only need a field goal to win it.

I think that can be considered an outlier.

How do games over 40 degrees compare to a cold, bitter high wind night? Answer: They don't. The offense and started to get some traction. The Jets like the deep balls and w/o Chung and DMac makes it less of a sure thing. .

It's over and hopefully they can rest the starters at the half next week.

Honest question regarding how they have been wasting the last possession of the half.

Could it possibly be the lack of personelle making it difficult to run the 2 minute offense?
I think that's most likely it. It's way easier to run when you have Jules and Danny out there.

Thanks, that's really the only way I can make sense of it. It's frustrating though, no doubt there....

I am not liking how the season's ending before the playoffs. You want have some type of momentum . This team hasn't been able to gel because of the injuries. Are we just gonna turn it on in the divisional round just like that? Everyone comes back and starts making plays.

That is the whole point of strategically resting and healing your best players so that when the game matters they are at as close to 100% as you can get them.

You just hope that the other guys can tread water so that you can heal your best ones. Not new or rocket science.

We had no momentum going into last year's playoffs. A ****ty performance against the Jets (albeit a narrow victory) that made everyone wonder what had happened to the offense, followed by a season finale where we sat a lot of starters and lost.

Ravens had no momentum going into the 2012 postseason.

NYG had no momentum going into the 2011 postseason.

etc...

Momentum going into the postseason is a bit overrated.

God only knows what this place is gonna be like if we ever go 3-13!!

The season is ending next week. A nice win, a win in the divisional round and we're revving.

Why is this just limited to temperature? Why can't be add injuries also?

If it means anything, the Saints in 2009 ended there regular season by losing their last three games. They then went on to win the Super Bowl.

I just want them to play good football going into the playoffs. Hard with these injuries. Edelman's huge. He needs to be himself when he comes back

Because doing so kills his argument.

This is a such a straw man argument. Fact is Manning sucks in cold. Add in winds that push kickers in closer and you kick it away.

To compare that to this game is foolhardy. I thought your MENSA friends would be able to show this to you. Alas, I was mistaken.

My bad. I forgot the outlier of a Manning led team in a high wind, cold night.

So, outside of a blizzard against an inept QB, give it to 12. Good enough?

Apparently Pats did the same against the Vikings and also won in OT. Don't know when.

Loss at Green Bay
Tight game in San Diego
Meh 1st half against the lolphins
Typical game against the jests
Throwaway game against the jills

Really outside of the 3rd quarter against the lolphins and the 4th quarter against San Diego wasn't like the Pats were running rampant over the opposition the last month of the regular season..

It's either they "gave up" , "Chickened out" as some posters seem to suggest or they thought it would be better to get into halftime and make some adjustments rather risking further damage because of a decimated Offensive line, because of not having the right game plan or whatever.

I'm sure the reason wasn't they were in fear of their football lives.

Side Note: I am sure that if the Patriots needed this game to get into the playoffs, Amendola, Edelman, et al would have been playing.

forget it Tony...you're going up against real bonafide NFL football experts who never make kneejerk hindsight, moronic statements. They are real "KNOWERS OF THINGS" and should be admired and adored for their superior football intellects.

So now we see that you don't know what a straw man argument is.

Right. This coming from the boards resident Mensa member, Rhodes Scholar, Fields Medal winner and Nobel Laureate. I'm sorry, did I forget one?

See, you opinionate and expect people to take it as fact. Others use facts that don't work with your opinions and you belittle them and use pithy responses. From someone as distinguished as yourself, I would expect much more.

It's not about an opinion, slick, and it's not about anyone being a MENSA member or any of the other things you were so sarcastically mentioning. It's about the definition of straw man. By definition, my post was not a straw man argument.

I suggest that you follow the first rule of holes.
