New England acquires Oakland's second round pick in 2012

I think the jets are getting rid of Shaun Ellis, whom i would love to add to our line.

We have Warren Wilfork and Stroud. I think Stroud is the closest player to Seymour we could get on the open market. I love Ellis's power but where are we gonna put him?

The Giants extended an original round free agent tender on Mathias Kiwanuka. The compensation for New York would be a second rounder. Would you surrender Oakland's (or your own) second round pick next year to acquire him this off-season?

Yes, he comes with a very high risk with his season ending neck injury. However, there won't be many players available in free agency who could fit in a 3-4 alignment and you could load Kiwanuka's new contract with stipulations to protect yourself if he got seriously injured, again.

As long as he checks out medically I would absolutely trade for him since we aren't going to ever draft a $#%^&** OLB.

If Dowling is moved to FS, then he will need a red shirt year to learn the calls and adjustments.

So in summary, the Jets added about 650 pounds of upfront muscle to their front seven of a defense ranked 4th in the NFL, and we added bumpkus to a defense ranked 25th. And oh by the way, the reason the jets got their two players, was because BB got cute and traded for 2012 picks, instead of taking those players, and those 2012 picks do us no good in 2011.

Am I missing something here?

I think you missed that they haven't played a down in the NFL, that neither one is know for their discipline, that there may not be any rookie camps, OTAs training sessions, that they are replacing Ellis and Jenkins. My guess is they both show up fat and out of shape, neither will contribute much this year and the Jets will have a big hole in the middle of their defense. Sounds like brilliant picks for the Jets in a lockout year, but what would you expect.

And the Pats went 14-2 last year.

It is as likely that the presumed criminal Kenrick Ellis will be breaking rocks for several years, in a stripped uniform, instead of a green one.

You mean in the draft? Be prepared to be upset. BB has never drafted a 3-4 OLB in the first round. He has however signed his TWO largest FA deals with 3-4 OLB.

The failure rates of teams looking for 3-4 OLB's in the top 50 picks is gigantic over the past 5 years - take a look. BB will buy one, but he won't play Russian Roulette for one.

Unlikely that they end up like Carolina and give us the 33rd pick, but hopefuly Oakland goes back to it's losing ways and hooks us up big next year.

Don't worry they fired the only Coach to have gotten them near .500 in a decade.

Would be great to have #33 again next year, but I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think Oakland is going to sweep the division again like last season, and they won't be playing the NFC West again, where they picked up two easy wins (and should have picked up more).

But no matter where that pick is, it's still great value compared to the 28th pick in the 3rd and 4th that we gave up for it.
