Patriots Now Have to Get to Work After Taking Maye
Ian Logue
Expectations have been high leading up to the draft that the Patriots might finally add one of the top quarterback prospects on offense, with the only question seemingly being whether or not the team might trade out of #3 in favor of a deal from a desperate team. He underperformed and was inconsistent last season. The year before he was super.

To me that’s a bigger issue than footwork. Maye needs to be surrounded by adequate talent. Or he forces it and lacks rhythm. And can get emotional.

He must sit this season until we get more offensive talent.

I live in Texas and have been following UT and Mack Brown since he coached here. He's a great recruiter and can bring in stud recruits. The problem is that after 3 or 4 years, these players may be a little bigger and faster, but at best, they're marginally better football players. This kid is going to need a lot of coaching if he's going to make it. If you believe that the current Patriots' coaching staff can provide that coaching, then it may be a good pick. We'll see.
