Patriots Defensive Line Analysis and Morse’s Morsels
Mark Morse
This week I will concentrate on the Defensive Line. Last season the Defensive Line was shredded by the season's end. They had more holes than Swiss cheese. To me, the only shining light was Christian Barmore.

"...As a true nose tackle, Godchaux is not expected to make tackles but is supposed to occupy blockers and let the LB make the plays.."

That's part of the problem: Godsmack is Not a Nose Tackle. He's a 4-3 DT / 3-4 DE, same as Guy.

"...I would not be surprised to see him [Barmore] in the game on passing downs as well."

I should certainly hope so, since he disrupts the pocket better than he stops the run.

"...Can Cowart come back to the form he showed in 2020?"

What form was that?

"... He [Dee Wise] is nothing but a situational pass rusher..."

I actually feel he's more of an early-down DE when they're in the 4-3... Otherwise he's kinda useless and is way, Way over-paid.

Roberts, Ray, Mitchell: camp bodies, not worthy of even a look-see on the PS... Where's the Beef, Bill?

Yes to the HOF for Bucko Kilroy & Stanley Morgan; No for the time being for Bob Kraft.

Philips Academy. 1776 club. Today's Pats fan would go into cardiac arrest. We went to them all, Philips, Amherst, Bryant. The player I remember from Philips was John Outlaw. He was walking with no shirt on and I had never seen anyone with muscles like he had.

He also had a nice 6-year run with the Eagles after he left the Pats... Outlaw was one of a few who Got Away when Chuck Fairbanks took over in 1973...
