What is the sixers current state at the 2,3,4?

The sixers (embiid and Simmons) have proven to be playoff doormats

The raptors are a borderline playoff team without Leonard

Who were the 4 & 5s in the NBA finals?

I wouldn't call the Sixers doormats. They lost to the eventual champs in Game 7 on a buzzer beater by Kawhi.

Celts would have beaten them pretty easily.....raptors lucked out....they solved giannis for a series and gsw was broken

I don't hate the signing. He's not quite as good as Kyrie, but he might be better in the long run IF the C's gel into a more cohesive team with Walker at the helm. So it looks like the loss of Irving was quickly and adequately filled.

But here's the thing. With Walker getting a "supermax" deal, how are the C's going to fill the gaps that Horford, Morris, and Bane have left. Seems to me all they have left to start filling ALL those gaps is Robert Williams and a mid level exemption.

Scoring is NOT going to be a big issue with Walker, Brown, Tatum, and Hayard on the team. However where are the rebounds, inside scoring, and rim defense going to come from. I'm still wondering why Banes was let go for so little, when it seemed like when he was hurt the C's struggled on D, and when he was healthy, it was much better.

BUT, like I said, all the moves that will happen next week, will not end the long off season for the C's. Danny is like Bill in a sense that he has made a lot of good moves for the C's late in the off season as well as during the season.

Back in 2008 after the C's made a big splash acquiring Allen and Garnett, Ainge brought on 3 vets pretty late in the process, Cassal, Posey, and Brown, all of whom made big contributions during that playoff run.

.@KembaWalker has conveyed to the @hornets he intends to sign with the Boston Celtics once free-agent contracts are allowed July 6, multiple sources say.

As reported this week, the Celtics and Walker both intend for the All-Star guard to commit to a four-year, $141M maximum contract once free agency opens on Sunday at 6 PM. Walker is traveling to New England to meet with Celtics officials at 6 PM ET.

So, assuming these reports end up coming true, Ainge is going to have to pull a couple of bigs out of his hat.

Anyone know how Perk's knee is doing these days?

The Clippers are exploring the feasibility of signing both Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler in free agency, @NYTSports has learned

Leonard wants to be joined by a top-flight free agent if he decides to leave Toronto for the Clippers and Butler's rugged two-way game makes for an intriguing pairing. Clippers adviser Jerry West is also a known admirer of Butler

ESPN story on Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets meeting Sunday as a prelude to a four-year max deal -- and the Lakers beginning pursuit of D'Angelo Russell.

1. Big holes at C and PF. No rim protection or rebounding. Also Kemba depends on a pick setter.
2. Last year without Horford team was mediocre with the same guys
3. Minor concerns about how Kemba wasn't able to win with Batum or Lamb or Howard.

So, taking the Walker reports as accurate, and assuming I haven't missed anyone (which I may well have), Boston would be looking at:

Walker
Smart
Edwards
Waters
Brown
Tatum
Hayward
Langford
Ojeleye
Yabusele
Theis
Williams

Losing:

Irving
Horford
Morris
Gibson
Rozier
Wannamaker
Baynes

Rob Williams is going to take a big step. Also, I am sold on Tacko. That can all change if he stinks SL up. As far as Kemba and his performing...Tatum, Brown and a healthy Hayward is light years ahead of that.

As Deus noted earlier there must be a trade coming. They can only sign one guy with the exemption and they need two. Williams is still too raw to depend on. There has to be more to Trader Danny's plan than signing Walker and one big.

Patsfans is usually great at guessing trades but I don't see any guesses this time. Smart for Capella? Latest rumors say No. So what is the impending trade?

From what I read and saw on the few games I watched last year for the Celtics, Irving and Rozier were kinda sorta malcontents with this system..

My comparison is to the Pats who probably have some of the same issues, but their belief in "team" as opposed to promoting self and personal brand is less obvious.. could not watch the Celtics all that much this year found them dull and uninteresting..

On paper this is not a 60 win team, but if they are more competitive and have less issues on the sideline I will at least they will be enjoyable..

Hayward and his recovery is critical as is the development and trust in the younger players..

How many too 5s were in the final 4 teams? How many 1s

1 > 5

There are plenty of bigs who will take the mid level exception and or a 1 year prove it deal

Then there’s plenty of opportunity for a deal before the deadline once the team shakes itself out a bit

Bottom line is that regardless of who the team signed in the max slot, this team will go the way Tatum and Brown go

Plus the Hornets played better when Graham got serious minutes at the end of the year.

How can he get a ''supermax''? I tought only his team (with ''birth'' rights) was allowed to give him a supermax.
