Charlie Wiess, Jr.

LOL just to see NEM turn over in his grave.

Actually he is doing a good job at Ole Miss. Obviously close to the same system the Pats have run for years, but with a hint of youth and enthusiasm.
Weiss Jr. is running an iteration of Lane Kiffin's offense at Ole Miss. I don't think there are any fundamental similarities to the EP system the Patriots have been utilizing for quite awhile.

Not opposed to the idea of Weiss Jr. as an offensive assistant in some capacity, nor am I opposed to fresh ideas/schemes ... but I don't think it's accurate to say he's coordinating "close to the same system the Pats have run for years" at Ole Miss.

well what he did as a HC isn't relevant when his is an OC. As just the OC he has a HC who can slow him down. There IS a difference
At this point it doesn't make any difference.

Chargers just blew a bigger lead - 27-0 near the end of the first half - finishing with 20 total carries by their running backs. Regardless of how many yards they gained, if they have 30 they win.

The league refuses to run. And thus they refuse to win.

6’7” Zach Kittley was joined at the hip with our own Bailey Zappe for several years at Houston Baptist, now Houston Christian. Then they together left for Western Kentucky where NCAA records were set for TDs and passing yardage, 62 and nearly 6,000 respectively. Just gaudy.

You think you’ve seen Corky throw a temper tantrum you ain’t seen nothing if Zappe beats him out with Kittley as OC.

Kittley spent last season as Texas Tech’s OC and QB coach. He’s a fast riser.

Not sold on BoB ... Think his goal is a hc job... Would rather get caley in the role

That's completely overstated as well. Mac was preparing for the draft at the time. BOB said many people helped him learn Alabama's system including Mac. Do we honestly think someone preparing to be a high pick in the NFL Draft is going to spend significant time helping BOB learn a system? I'm sure Mac helped him for a couple of days, but let's not pretend like there's some "relationship" there. That's naive.

Neither of us know how much Jones and O'Brien spent together during the offseason two years ago either in person or over the phone nor do we know their relationship. You are just speculating. For you know, Jones and O'Brien could have had daily one hour zoom calls over a period of time where O'Brien would just have questions for what he is studying and specifics about game film.

All I said is they have a relationship based on Jones helping O'Brien learning the playbook. The reports make it sound like Jones gave a significant amount of assistance. It could have been overplayed. But don't know that for sure.

And I think you may be overstating how much draft prospects spend preparing for the draft. They gotta stay in shape/train and do some interviews and have the Combine and Pro Days, but most draft prospects still attend school and do other things during this time.

Mike “Kraft’s 5th son” Reiss speculates on candidates today, which I’m taking as informed speculation….

- Bill O’Brien
- Kliff Kingsbury
- Ol’ Googly eyes Adam Gase
- Keenan McCardell (Vikings WR coach, former player with BB)
- Shawn Jefferson (receivers coach with both Gase and Kingsbury, yes, that Shawn Jefferson)
- Doug Nussmeier (Cowboys QB coach)
- Nick Caley, but thinks he’s a long shot because he would have gotten the job last year if they wanted him there

What I take as more interesting is that Reiss is also strongly speculating that the OL coach is also up in the air.

Who will Belichick consider as he begins search for Patriots' OC?

I certainly hope it is... Even if he's relegated to being just an OL coach, I still wouldn't feel totally comfortable with Phatt Matt & Yates there, especially if I were Mac......

Time for New, Experienced, Successful AND Respected blood at ALL offensive coaching positions.

Just seen a name in an article. What do you all think of Gary Kubiak?

How about Keith Olberman. There must be something he can do.
