Most Talented WR duo to ever play for the Pats

  • Moss/Welker

  • Fryar/Morgan

  • Ray Guy killed a Lewis

2007 Moss transcended generations. He was vintage Moss and provided a prime Rice-Montana connection but with video game like ability to one-strike score anywhere on the field. Welker tore up coverage underneath and had unbelievable YAC ability. Don’t sleep on Stallworth, either. That 2007 team for the first half of the season was the most potent offense football has ever seen. When they had the magic there was nothing like Moss and Welker.

Morgan/Fryar is a very distant 3rd.

I don't remember Stanley Morgan, but his numbers are pretty astounding given he played for offenses whose philosophies were run first, second, and third, throughout most of his prime. He was 12th all time in yards per reception, and his volume numbers were comparable to Paul Warfield, Lance Alworth, and Don Maynard. He makes a legit case, though nobody outside of New England and under the age of 55 would consider him greater than Moss or Gronk.

Fryar was a contributor, but he was a disappointment during his time here. He never put up big stats until he left for Miami, and he missed the AFCC game because he hurt his hand beating his wife. He doesn't come within sniffing distance of Wekler's accomplishments, and he was a turd taboot.

Close. Jackie stabbed him in the hand.

No he wasn't. Not in Moss's league talent wise.
Moss had the most talent of any WR ever, so...

But if we widen the class to HOF receivers, Morgan is there with him. Deserves to be in there.

Not only that but Morgan was more athletically gifted than many of those WRs.

Imagine if Morgan played either with a good passing offense or even if he played a generation or two later. I can't imagination the numbers he would have put up as Brady's WR in the 2000s.

Branch and Brown were a great pair too! Not as good as Moss/Welker, but maybe more clutch.

Nobody made more clutch catches and plays than Troy Brown. I think he gets lost sometimes when people consider the Patriots greats.

We respect and honor the old timers, but this is an unfair comparison. Moss is arguably a top-3 WR all time.

Definitely. But that is a lot different than Fryar and Morgan were a more TALENTED duo than Moss Welker.

Gotta go with Moss/Welker as one who witnessed both, #12 made both of the recent guys much better. The '07 season where Moss tore up the league is unforgettable.

Fryar/Morgan were very good, but not on the same level as the Moss/Welker. The game was a tad different then as were the QB's...

Please, Harry/Dorsett was the tops and everyone knows it!

It is a legitimate argument but I tend to agree.

I would take Moss over all of them. I'd take him over Rice.

I would take Morgan over Fryar and WW. Morgan with a top QB would have been a HoFer.

I would take Fryar over WW. Fryar was more talented, caught a ton of balls and for a ton of yards.

With that said WW had a sensational career and was prolific here. I kinda don't really compare WW to the prototypical WR as a slot WR here his role was unique.

Best Patriots WR of All Time is Stanley Morgan. Hands down.
Moss, Edelman, and Welker are behind him.

Gronkowski and Coates are the two best Patriots TEs of all time.

No consideration of "All World" TE Russ Francis???

Here's a shocking stat about Morgan that many might not remember: in his first 12 years with the Patriots, he played on only one losing team.
It's only shocking to those who bought the bs that the Pats were always a laughingstock.

Moss/Welker is easily the best choice, but Morgan was a stud who had over 20+ yards per reception for his first six years and finished his career with 19+, at a time when running was dominant.

(For all you rookie trolls out there this is how you do it properly.)

Ok everyone, Issue number 2: Fryar/Morgan - Would they have had a better chance to win a Superbowl with Berry/Brady or Belichick/Eason/Grogan
