Suppose Randy Moss were re-signed, with the understanding that his role was to be a deep threat receiver, for no more plays per game than he was able and willing to play all-out, to the whistle, no matter what.
Assume there's somebody it would be OK to cut from the 53 to make room for him (along with, of course, whomever Mankins replaces).
There's still a matter of fitting him onto the 45. The obvious victim would be Edelman, leaving the active receivers Welker, Branch, Tate, Moss, and the TEs. (Leaving Slater out of it.)
This would be a clear upgrade at WR, but perhaps costly at PR. Worth it?
IF you think he wouldn't be a locker-room problem, it's hard not to add a talent like Moss, even if it overloads you on the 53 at his position. But the 45 can be a bit tighter yet -- until, of course, the injuries kick in (e.g., a certain hammy ...).
