Guys, DO NOT DO THIS! Do not harrass a random private citizen at 1:00 AM just because you are a football fan!!!

Seconded.

I also think this thread should be LOCKED until (if) more info comes out.

Also, any poster who is "calling" people or listing phone #s should be banned if the mods and the site want to avoid liability for the posters actions.

This thread is a disgrace.

I don't care if people want to dial phone numbers all night but please try to avoid getting this site into any sort of legal entanglement, it's one of the few places I go for football news that doesn't cause a migraine. Thank you.

867-5309

That's Mitchell Goosen's number, you should call him!

The odd thing is that the radio station that first reported it offered info that is NOT in the court docs. Sounds like somebody who knew about the situation tipped them off, otherwise it might have stayed as buried as the LeBron James bit.

300 posts from the gossip mongers later, we discover it's a false story.

I TOLD YOU SO!

Hopefully class, we've learned something here

I agree with locking or deleting this thread.

This thread is a disgrace.

Listing information that is already public via a simple google search. What kind of law is that breaking? News reporters do it every day. Are they breaking the law too?

I can't believe this has to be stated. Unbelievable.

This thread is a disgrace.

I disagree. People are interested in determining if there is any merit to the news report.

You do not need to read the thread if it offends you.

First of all, this whole thing seems shady. The link was only active for a short period of time- it is now dead, the site has removed it. If it was legit, why would that happen?

Time to wait and learn. There is a document at the broward county court web site with a complaint against a 'Randy G Moss' with the charges as specified.

The fact that the redneck station took the story down suggests they are not confident, that they just got a bunch of calls from NYT, Boston Globe, some real reputable news outlets, and they are now going back to check their facts.

The facts will be revealed within 24 hours. Thank God we haven't heard anything yet: that, coupled with the site being down, suggests this is a prank by someone who noticed the name 'Randy G Moss' on the Broward court web site.

Hey why do I get the feeling that you really want this story to be true?

It's bullsh!t, common, let's get serious here.

Gossip? It was a news story at a real radio station, with a court document with the name Randy G Moss on it. We don't know it's false yet.

Let's hope it is.

If I call her, how can I be sure that she won't take out a restraining order against me?
If she does, ask her to include Patsfans.com to whatever you are being restrained from, will ya?

Thanks.

Calling the parties involved to find out the truth of a news story is not against the law at all. It's called reporting. I think some people are overreacting. This is what message boards are for. A media outlet reported a story. Now we're discussing it and trying to determine the truth. No laws are being broken. No one is getting hurt.

I don't give a flying f*uck what you think. Posting the names/addresses/places of work of people---and encouraging people to harrass those people--is disgraceful, not to mention possibly criminal.

Relax. It's an office number. But in hindsight, I do agree that I shouldn't have called. Lesson learned.

This is a lesson that you actually had to learn???

Or maybe Randy's lawyer called. That shoudl scare them into taking it down, if it's a false story.

Okay, I registered just to post this (Viking fan, diehard Moss fan and a Patriot fan as a result).

First of all, this whole thing seems shady. The link was only active for a short period of time- it is now dead, the site has removed it. If it was legit, why would that happen?

And even to begin with, the contents of the link were very vague and suspect.

Second of all, accusing someone of hurting you and then denying you medical attention is a superb way of clueing that you are lying. Of course, nobody can verify that you needed medical attention because you were denied. And what the hell does denying somebody medical attention even entail? Did he hold the lady hostage until the injuries sustained from "dating violence" healed? Did he guard her for days until the evidence of the injuries evaporated? Pretty humorous if you ask me.

Maybe it's mistaken identity, maybe it's a hoax, maybe it's a bogus accusation. I just really hope it's not true... because I know the media turned Moss' mooning into a big scandal, certainly this is a little more serious and they could do the same. And I really want Moss to stay with Brady and the Pats beyond '08 so hopefully nothing gets in the w ay of that...

Very good point (what I bolded)

The post you quoted is case and point. Because when I think of Orlando the first thing I think of is rednecks.

Although I agree with your assestment. I think the thread starter also wants it to be true.

Office number or not...consider for a moment the possibility that the woman you called really is a victim of domestic violence who fears for her safety (from somebody). Then consider the effect on her sanity of discovering that her answering machine is full of hang-ups from strange numbers in the middle of the night.

Board policy prohibits posting anyone's personal contact information. I will attempt to delete the earlier links, please nobody post more.

Christ, I'm just being rational here. We have no idea right now if it is true or not. The evidence right now makes it more likely that it is false, but we don't know that. They took down the story: does that mean they have retracted it, or are checking all their sources, realizing they have a potentially huge story on their hands, and are getting ready to drop a bombshell tomorrow if it turns out to be true?

Their story had more details than the Broward County court web site, so they obviously have a source. Right now they are tracking down that source, waiting at the courthouse to talk to someone in the know, and will likely post a retraction (if they have any journalistic integrity, they will post a retraction, and the fact that they took the story down suggests they might have such integrity).

I know a little about how these things work, my wife is the Editor of a small paper and she has to deal with this sh|t all the time.

I hope it is false, and give it a 80% chance of it being false.

Who encouraged anyone to harass them? You're making that up.
