Exactly, and no charges have to be filed because you don't have to be a victim to get a restraining order. The idea is to prevent a crime from happening or to protect someone from being harassed.

Yes but those places do not employ the top notch gumshoes here at patsfans.com!

Dumbass, if you paid attention you'd see I didn't come out with the story. It was a radio station in Orlando. My "wild-ass" story was that I called the Newsroom at the radio station. Anyone could have done it too.
Look, butt-wipe. Anyone could have but they didn't. YOU did.

You came here with a wildass story. No one heard of you or the story. You screamed vindication when florio copied your bogus website. You demanded apologies from all who doubted you.

You whined like hell because people wouldn't just take your word for it.

Before, as I said, no one believed you because you were new here.

From now on, people won't believe you because you were fricking wrong.

The only good thing you have done is to create a bunch of excitement. Trouble is, there is plenty of excitement this time of year. Why no go away and come back next June-July during the dead time and link some more bogus stories.

Assume that:
1. This story is bogus,
2. This is a different Randy Moss, or
3. The complaint is without merit.

If the national media starts to make a big deal out of this, does it motivate Randy Moss and/or the team to play better against the Chargers?

Yeah but usually the person is a pretty big creep for someone to feel threatened.

Was anyone able to actually pay to see what is revealed under "case detail"? This is important.

What the link to the Broward County website shows is that yesterday, someone named Rachelle Washington filed an application for a restraining order against someone named Randy G Moss.

To be "dating violence" under Florida law, the complaining party must show a substantial long-term relationship that involved sex, physical threat, and continued fear of harm.

When these things are filed, they are immediately brought to a judge that very day, who decides whether there are enough facts to enter a 15-day injunction and to set a hearing at the end of the 15 days to decide whether there is enough evidence to enter a long-term injunction.

The "case detail" should tell you not only whether a case was filed but also whether an injunction was entered and whether a hearing was set.

Whomever the Randy Moss at issue is, he may not even know about this yet, since these things can be filed "ex parte" -- that is, without notice to the other side.

I'd really be curious what it says if you click on "case detail," which should be like a docket sheet showing any further action beyond the application.

It has only the same information as the original page that is free. It will only contain more information as new information is added. Someone posted about it a few pages back.

Call her, I would be interested to know if she is the complainant.

About as vague as can possibly be. Sure as heck not enough to actually be considered "convincing."

I wasn't arguing about "convincingness," I just think it's interesting to ponder that somebody fed that reporter this story. She had it suspiciously quickly, was certain it was the right Randy, had a specific date the incident supposedly happened & other info not in the public docs. That was handed to her by somebody, for some reason.

ok, your big clue is the website taking the story down.

ask yourself - if they have the 'documents in hand' - why would they take it down?

simple. they know they screwed up and can get in big trouble. that's why they aren't answering calls either.

they either knew it was bogus and were trying to create controversy, or they didn't confirm which randy moss it was and now know they should have.

the point is, if they took it down, they are basically retracting the info they were putting out there, so you no longer have a source of any kind.

If it's the wrong randy, they have left themselves open to further action against their company.

I called using My IP Relay. No answer. 5 rings then to the answering machine. I didn't leave a message.

If I call her, how can I be sure that she won't take out a restraining order against me?

I know you are joking, but PLEASE nobody call anybody with that name. We have no idea if that is her. We don't want to be bashed in the press as jerky Pats fans harassing a victim of abuse.

The complaining party shown in the link to the Broward County web site could not be the mother of "Randy G Moss's" children or his spouse.

The complaint was filed as one of "dating violence." The complaint would be called one for "domestic violence" if it were someone who (a) lives with this Randy G Moss, (b) is married to him, or (c) is the mother of his children.

I agree with everything except that the only source now is the court documents.

On January 14, the day the complaint was filed, there should have either been an order issued or not. Case detail should show this, although not all court web sites update daily.

Guys, DO NOT DO THIS! Do not harrass a random private citizen at 1:00 AM just because you are a football fan!!!

Ok, I literally LMFAO when i read that (butt-wipe), but in fairness to him, he didn't come here saying "This story is true" he said he heard it on a radio station and then published a link, so it wasn't as if he was lying about hearing the story.

I think you guys need a timeout, Mitchell Goosen style.

Relax. It's an office number. But in hindsight, I do agree that I shouldn't have called. Lesson learned.

Okay, I registered just to post this (Viking fan, diehard Moss fan and a Patriot fan as a result).

First of all, this whole thing seems shady. The link was only active for a short period of time- it is now dead, the site has removed it. If it was legit, why would that happen?

And even to begin with, the contents of the link were very vague and suspect.

Second of all, accusing someone of hurting you and then denying you medical attention is a superb way of clueing that you are lying. Of course, nobody can verify that you needed medical attention because you were denied. And what the hell does denying somebody medical attention even entail? Did he hold the lady hostage until the injuries sustained from "dating violence" healed? Did he guard her for days until the evidence of the injuries evaporated? Pretty humorous if you ask me.

Maybe it's mistaken identity, maybe it's a hoax, maybe it's a bogus accusation. I just really hope it's not true... because I know the media turned Moss' mooning into a big scandal, certainly this is a little more serious and they could do the same. And I really want Moss to stay with Brady and the Pats beyond '08 so hopefully nothing gets in the w ay of that...
