I've done zero research about this, but I can't remember the Giants even having a black QB as the #1 backup, at least since the 80s. I could very well be wrong, but that seems hard to believe.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Hubbach, he is very possibly the biggest NE hater anywhere, and that's not an exaggeration. Dennis, Callahan and Minihane "pantsed" him on the air last year about DG as part of their "Whack-aTroll" series. They really, and deservedly, humiliated him. I've heard him on the air a number of times and, like Greg Doyel from Indy, he sounds legitimately unhinged. Batshit crazy. But, whatever the reason, he has blind hatred for the Pats, in general, and BB, in particular.

This story got be thinking about when I played for the Quincy Giants back in 1969. This was a time when NO teams had black QB's, the Pats drafted a black QB, from Grambling I think or one of the Southern Black Colleges, and, since we were a farm club of their's sent him down to play with us.

I can't for the life of me remember his name, but I was in awe of the kid since he was about 4" taller than me and about 25-30 lbs heavier, and a lot faster besides. He had a gun for an arm and everyone was pretty excited he was going to play for us. Even us guys on the defense. However after about 2 weeks and just before the season started, he was gone.

Evidently (as the story goes) he got homesick and was never comfortable "up north" to begin with. I never knew what happened. If someone with better research skills than I can dig up his name and what happened to him, I'd appreciate it.

The Jets have been very progressive about alternating between ****ty white quarterbacks and ****ty black quarterbacks. They should be commended for seeking out terrible quarterbacks in an equal-opportunity manner.
