No, I don't work for them. But it's very funny -- and characteristic of the paranoia on this board -- that you think I might.
You guys are ridiculous. Try reading ESPN contributor chats for any sport. Every single fan base in the country thinks ESPN is "biased" against their team. In fact, most other fan bases in the country are convinced that ESPN is biased TOWARDS Boston and New York, among other things because those are the two biggest sports markets in the country and because the company headquarters is located in Connecticut. It doesn't take a whole lot of work to find conspiracy theories of this type on the net ( try

against New York and
towards Boston alone (see

Sugar, Mr. Poon? Comments ). You see whining about ESPN's pro-Boston bias even on Yankee fan boards (

The number of fan bases who believe that their team is specifically, intentionally disrespected by ESPN for some secret demonic reason is just awe-inspiring. There are Sonics fans who blame the move on ESPN (
OT: ESPN Fiddles While the Sonics Burn Stadium Way). People from St. Louis and Milwaukee are convinced ESPN is biased toward the Cubs -- it's just an accident that the Cubs happen to have won the pennant and got more coverage for that reason. Midwesterners in general think ESPN is biased toward the coasts. The network itself, responding seriously to these accusations, conducted a poll in which 70% of respondents said they believed the media had a bias in favor of East Coast teams (

The whole "ESPN is biased against my team" whine is so much of a cliche in the sports world that it's become a running joke IN ESPN COVERAGE. I mean really. Have you even read the site lately? When Keith Law or David Thorpe or John Hollinger goes two chat questions without mentioning the Twins or the Royals or the Lakers or whoever, he starts getting flamed from morons like you people. Now it's just a joke on the board (
ESPN: Chat with Scout's Inc.'s Keith Law - SportsNation ).
How any fan of any Boston sports team could think ESPN is biased against Boston when three of their top guys (Bill Simmons, Peter Gammons, and Chris Berman) are completely, openly in the tank for Boston sports teams is beyond me. Did you guys forget about that lineup? How about Jim Caple, another Boston sports fan? How about Buster Olney, who lavishes praise on the Red Sox every time he goes on the air? Olney used to cover the Yankees and clearly didn't enjoy the experience. As for Berman... my God, he's an openly drooling Patriots fan. He goes to Pats practices for fun.
But those are just the facts. The real issue is what a bunch of sorry whiners you people are. Your team has won 3 Super Bowls this decade and has been the dynasty team of the era. You've twice won 20 regular-season games in a row. Your star player gets hurt this year and the team has miraculously stayed in contention with a quarterback who hadn't played since high school. And you STILL CAN'T ENJOY being Pats fans! You have to find something to complain about! Get over it! The world is not against you. ESPN doesn't give a damn about you one way or another, so long as you keep watching their advertisers' commercials and stuffing your face with Doritos and $5-footlong Subway sandwiches.
