More Browns Implosion: Banner and Lombardi Stepping Down

I'm not sure how uncontextualized stories about his other business applies to his decision to fire Mike Lombardi, other than thinking a slam against him makes your opinion stronger. It would seem that he made some pretty decent decisions over the years in building a fortune.

His father built that fortune. Jimmy took over as CEO in 1995. His legacy will be the crumbling of the empire his father built after he gets indicted, as about 10 of his executives have already plead guilty to fraud.

He may have made the right decision to fire Banner and Lombardi, but he didn't build himself a fortune. Daddy did, and it took him less than 20 years to destroy it. He may well end up in prison.

where using devious means he recruits The Prisoner and his cohorts throughout the US prison system and builds a dynasty!

yeah, you're right. those impressive playoff wins override all of the previous mediocrity and make the 2011 NYG one of history's most dominant SB winning teams. Right up there with the '85 Bears.

You probably consider Eli Manning elite as well, based on the fact he quarterbacked all of those impressive post season wins in '07 and '11. Well, good for him. He got hot when it counted and has won two SB's. But it's not crazy to think of Eli as a mediocre qb that caught fire at just the right time and got lucky, just as it isn't crazy to think the same of his football team. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Too bad it had to be against the NEP.

Anyway, you're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Right?

You're right. The 2001 New England Patriots should give back their rings.

Wouldn't that be a huge step backwards for Lombardi? Maybe BB expects Caserio to bail in the near future.

Unemployment is a bigger step backward.

When BB got canned by the Browns, Parcells hired him as "Assistant Head Coach-DB's".

It happens.
