First day of pads is usually pretty revealing. The first signs of real trouble on offense showed up this way the past couple years. I don't expect much different this year (too much change, they'll need time to gel at least), but if they're going to surprise us, today is the first chance to do so.

For an offensive system that is so dependent on marrying the run concepts to the pass concepts, having the actual threat of a hand off should give us a better idea of whether this o-line is a serious problem, or whether the D's been teeing off because they know they don't have to bite on the fakes.

That reminds me of one of DeJean Jackson's first games in the NFL (might have been THE first game he played), where caught like a 60 yard TD running away from a guy, but spiked it before he crossed the goal line and the other team jumped on it. Learning moments. Rather he do it in camp than a game.
