We all tend to use the term "JAG" improperly. It should NOT be used as a pejorative, since the vast majority of NFL players qualify as "JAGS". At least 70% if not more are JAG Just another guy in the NFL means you are a fantastic football player. Someone who has risen to the top 1% of all those who have played the game in your era.

I don't know whether to laugh or get pissed when I read how some of the fat asses here who who are sitting on pillows and calling these fantastic athletes "JAGS" as if they have caught a contagious disease. They have no clue as to the level of skill and effort it takes just to be in a position where one CAN be cut by an NFL team, let alone make it.

As to the question of the likelihood of Ballard playing this year I don't see it. He's a good player but not that much better than Fells, Shianco, or HooHoo. It makes no sense to rush his recovery since his addition doesn't improve the roster that much.

I'd much rather think of him as being a much better TE option than one we can get in the 4th round next April . Just as I'd like to think of Jeff Demps being a better option as a KR/WR/RB that we could get in the 5th round, .and Larsen will be a better option at FB than we could get in the 6th round

JAG is not an insult.

You'd rather put him at LB and away from DE instead of using White?

I know he 'can' but moving Rob away from DE when you don't have to is bad news.

Which is why White is important. Probably one of the better coverage LB on the team too
Of course. Cunnigham has already taken a lot of his snaps away at LDE. I wouldn't object to him taking the job away from Ninkovich.
Tracy White stinks as a LB.

So you would rather have Cunningham and his 1.5 sacks vs Nink and his 4 sacks and 4 FF's. That makes a lot of sense.

JAG is not an insult.

I think that depends on the user's context and some users clearly meant it as such. The words "JUST ANOTHER" does tend to have the implication of "LESS THAN" average or at least average.

Ken is of course correct that the AVERAGE NFL player or even LESS THAN AVERAGE NFL Player is still one of the top 1% athletes in the US. (and top 0.0005% football players in the current US population).

And even if it isn't meant as an insult it still clearly means "EASILY REPLACEABLE". I think if any of our bosses called us that; we might feel a little insulted (even if its true-which is likely in my case/current job).
