(Mod Title Edit) Bill O'Brien's Comments From Tuesday ...

Allow me a pivot here to address what REALLY stood out to be from BOB’s comments:

Someone actually being a man and taking some GD accountability, offering insight, and being a damned leader.

It’s fair to say the O has been abysmal, and BOB certainly has had a role. But I admire him for owning it, and trying to diffuse some heat on one of his players.

Sad that it is refreshing to see, but it is.
I hope BOB goes back to the College game he's barely making anyone look competent in this Offense. Our hopes got dashed we never expected this almost nothing to work with.

And yet...

This smacks of "the last 25 years" comment. Yup the guy's a legend. Hall of Famer.

He's also failed to draft a Pro Bowl player in 10 years and has completely ignored the offensive side of the ball. Instead he's choosing to draft players that make his sons look good on defense.

I know there is another thread on BOB’s comments but I think it buried the actual lead. Mods feel free to merge if you disagree.

What I took from presser was for the first time in a while, a NEP coach OWNS responsibility for failure, gives some insight, and tries to shield one of his players from taking heat (fair or not).

Basically, he behaved like a leader.

No grunting, childish, or petulant answers, just the truth.

“Blame me”.

Wow…

Sad that a grown man offering a public mea culpa (though one could debate how much is REALLY his fault) is noteworthy but it is because we just haven’t seen it.

He’s earned my respect if nothing else.
Dunno dude... coaches during the BB reign have for the most part always towed (toed Welker? I have no idea) the party line of "I have to coach better" or some iteration of that. Nothing unusual here. BB's said it ad nauseam over the last 2 decades to the point where it's lost its meaning.

If you read his quotes, they boil down to "We just have to coach it better". Nothing to see here.
That’s what made it refreshing. He offered a take, actually provided specifics and insight, and was pretty candid.

It’s never just one guy’s fault.

Especially interesting was that he correctly pointed out where Mac could be better while ALSO saying (in a nicer way than I will) that the O line is an absolute horror show.

If Rodgers is still sidelined I'd pick the Pats to beat New Jersey in the season (and possibly BB's) finale.

Tough to say... one has so far gone 24 straight drives without it resulting in a TD and the other goes in and has a drive that goes for a TD on the first try.
And then threw an INT in the clutch. Definite similarity there.

I’m curious about which one of them has the better ratio of INTs to pass attempts this season. But not curious enough to actually research it, just feel like they’ll be pretty competitive with each other on that.

At least Zap threw his INT with ATHORITAH! versus backfoot Mac. Sigh what a poop show this all is.

Yup. We as fans have let BB get away with no accountability to fans for so long most have forgotten or don't even know that it's a thing

You think it's his fault?

Not surprised at that 'chain of command' answer regarding Mac.

As bad as he's been, it's just strange as hell for Belichick to keep him as the starting QB.

In the past 10 years, the Pats have won 3 SBs, yet this tool is complaining about drafting a pro bowl player

It's not. He's the best QB at practice so he gets to start. The moment Cunningham outplays him, he'll get the start.
