The MFL is not run by smart intellectuals . These are ex players, who know how to carry, or stop some one from carrying a leather ball. Not rocket science. Usually, there's competence at the top, at least. The commissioner has traditionally been a lawyer who at least has the legal knowledge and work experience to understand what he should and shouldn't do and conduct himself accordingly. Meanwhile, the owners have traditionally been self-made men who know how to run an organization and bought their teams because they had a vision of where they want to take the league.

What we're seeing now is what happens when the commissioner is just some ******* who has literally no work or life experience outside the NFL, a job which was handed to him on account of his father's status. Meanwhile, more and more teams are run by second or third generation kids who, like Goodell, inherited their lot in life.

I'm not a huge fan of Kraft, but if nothing else he's a savvy, self-made man who knows what he's doing. And has the demonstrated ability to run a top-flight organization. That's increasingly making him a rarity in the NFL.

So the big question is: Does Goodell have a Fall Guy, or is HE the Fall Guy?

Both. He's the owners' fall guy, and he has his own fall guys (Vincent, Pash if need be, Kensil, etc.) as well.

The owners need a few layers of fall-guy insulation to make sure none of the crap that happens here comes back to them.

So we can assume that Goodell and the NFL leadership where generally aware of the context of CC's speech, and by allowing it to be said were complicit in the premise that having a 'fall guy' was endorsed by the league!
