The way that Tuna and the Jests were conspiring right up to the SB was what I found deplorable.

I wasn't able to keep up with the team as well back then. The Tuna departure kinda caught me off guard. Were there signs?

The Jets actually hired Belichick as head coach twice. They hired him as head coach with Parcells as a consultant. Then, they demoted Belichick when Parcells was hired.

If they really thought Belichick was all that, they had him.

There were literally signs. I lived in Foxboro that year and Parcells had a for sale sign on his house before preseason of the Desmond Howard superbowl. I believe he had a house under construction in NJ at the same time. The whole "groceries" thing was a myth. He was going home.

Parcells actually met with the Jets secretly before the season even started.

One thing that people forget about Belichick and the Jets is that Belichick went on the market the year prior to leaving the Jets. he was offered a couple jobs. He was offered the Raiders job for instance. But the Jets lured him back with a higher salary. In other words, they guaranteed him he'd get the job if Parcells left. That didn't mean he had to take it!

This makes me feel a little bit of empathy for, not only Jets fans, but all of the Pats haters out there. Its an honest and pathetic confession that many of the die-hard fans out there would prostitute all that they hold sacred in exchange for an hour of Bill Belichick's time at the helm of their franchise. No wonder they hate us so much.
