There is disappointment or even suspicion because Brady has not done a great job of defending himself verbally in this whole Deflategate mess. I think the disappointment is largely misplaced, for the simple reasons that:
As an illustration of my point -- do you think Brady would be as good at Bruschi's or Chatham's post-playing careers as they are? I don't think so. Those guys are simply better communicators than he is, at least when the general public is the audience for the communication.
- While Brady is of above-average articulateness when compared to other NFL players ...
- ... he is not very articulate when compared to high-powered lawyers (e.g. Wells, Yee) or highly successful businessmen (Goodell -- blech -- or even the often verbally-bumbling Kraft).
