Besides a Manning, who is the best quarterback to defeat Tom Brady in the postseason?

Make your list of QBs he’s faced, starting with the best...the all-time greats, the MVPs, the Hall of Famers, the pro bowlers. There are a lot of QBs who you’d consider elite when they faced off...who is the best to beat him?

That would mean one of these guys.

Jake Plummer
Joe Flacco
Mark Sanchez
Nick Foles
Ryan Tannehill

Um.... Flacco I guess by default.

Brady is only 2-4 vs the Manning brothers in the playoffs and that annoys me. Lol

He's actually 2-5. 2006/2013/2015 AFCCG's and then then Super Bowl 42 and 46.

Brady knew that he would run up the score once Peyton was out of the way. In the 5 years since Peyton retired Brady has been to 4 and won 3 Super Bowls.

Peyton would have been out of the way from the playoffs if he didnt retire. He was cooked

  1. Peyton, 2013 AFCCG (set NFL records for passing TDs (55) and passing yards (5,477) in 2013.)
  2. Peyton, 2006 AFCCG (in '06 he led NFL in passing TD, passer rating and total offensive yards; 2nd in passing yards.)
  3. Eli, 2011 super bowl (had already won a SB; was named to his 2nd Pro Bowl in '11 with five 4th quarter comebacks and six game winning drives, while throwing for almost 5,000 yards that season.)
  4. Peyton, 2015 AFCCG (despite his worst season as a pro (9 TD vs 17 Int), he was still Peyton and therefore still considered elite.)
  5. Joe Flacco, 2012 AFCCG (was good (22 TD/10 Int) but not great (2nd straight year less than 60% completion rate); was not talked about highly until after that 2012 postseason when he threw 11 TD vs zero picks.)
  6. Eli, 2007 super bowl (career record of 30-25 at that point; in '07 he led the NFL in interceptions and pick-sixes.)
  7. Mark Sanchez, 2010 divisional (only his 2nd season, showing a slight bit of promise; the buttfumble would come later.)
  8. Jake Plummer, 2005 divisional (was only average throughout his career, but had a Pro Bowl year in '05 with 18 TD/7 Int.)
  9. Flacco, 2009 wild card (was only in his 2nd season and went 9-7 in '09; not considered to be even a top-10 QB at this point.)
  10. Ryan Tannehill, 2019 wild card (while he did have a good season (led NFL in yards per pass attempt, yards per completion and passer rating), he was 42-46 as a QB entering that season, and began the year as the backup. Very similar story as the next on this list.)
  11. Nick Foles, 2017 super bowl (while he did have a great season (27 TD/2 Int; led NFL in yards per pass attempt, yards per completion and passer rating), he was 11-8 in 19 career regular starts at that point, and began the season as the backup.)

If we’re looking for a second elite QB, or someone who would be the clear second best after Peyton, here’s the list of failed challengers, all of whom are either (a) MVPs or MVP candidates and/or (b) future Hall of Famers.

Patrick Mahomes (2)
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees
Kurt Warner
Russell Wilson
Matt Ryan
Steve McNair
Ben Roethlisberger (2)
Philip Rivers (3)
Andrew Luck (2)
Rich Gannon
Donovan McNabb
