I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that they don’t want to expose him to being signed off the practice squad by some other team as soon as he shows what they know he’s capable of.I don't think Swinson has been called up previously, but now he is up to stay (at least 4 weeks). So why now and not a few game day call ups?
Bengals passing game is very good. Swinson is a pass rushing specialist. Flacco is immobile. A coincidence?
Gonzo? This is going to put more pressure on the offense to score points. Missing your best player on defense for an extended period of time is going to be difficult.
Your post is perfect, except for the first two words, for which imo, there was absolutely no need whatsoever.Shut up. You are not the doctor. You didn't see the x-rays or swelling. You are frikin fan who has no business saying what the team shouldn't do with an injury. They are protecting a $100 million investment and felt this was best for the player and team.
Agreed. The defense front is the strength of the team. The depth on the defensive line. The next game against the Bengals. Likely will be a heavy man coverage wich will allow the defensive line to attack and the secondary can play to it's strength. The depth has been terrific. Terrific depth. Williams has been top shelf. Fortunately he returns for the playoffs.
He is. He's one of the top rated pressure DL in the league. Wich the pressure is what really matters most.. of course you always want to put the QB on his back.. but the pressure is just as important. What I'm seeing from guys like Tonga, Durden from the interior is those guys are always in the backfield. The pressure from the interior was pretty good when milt left the game against jets. We've had our shares or injury this season. He was also great at pressuring QB's from the interior, though. Not a sack generator, but would push things back as well, no? I have faith in the run defense holding up, honestly.
That being said, as far as pressure rate goes, I don't know how much of that is due to having a sticky secondary.
Can I have all 4 dad?? Please pretty please!.Winston can easily go off for 4 TDs.
2 for them, 2 for us

You don’t know wtf you’re talking about as usual. I wasn’t playing doctor or cutting corners on his recovery. The IR decision is only about how much they need that 53rd player, not his care. Many times this year we’ve gone with 52, but I bet you didn’t know that. So leaving him on the active roster was certainly an option.Shut up. You are not the doctor. Milton Williams has by far been the best player on that defense. Gonzalez has been great, but Williams has been the best DT in the league.Gonzo?
He may not be our best player on D but I think Gonzo would be a more serious loss. We have lots of quality DL depth, not so much at CB.
Agreed. Fortunately we have depth up front wich can help mitigate the damage of not having Milt.. there is no one in the secondary that can do the same for a loss of Gonzo.Milton Williams has by far been the best player on that defense. Gonzalez has been great, but Williams has been the best DT in the league.
Thank you for your reply.I got another three words for you. I don't care.

Also, in this case there’s an extra 2+ weeks of recovery time built in. The injury didn’t happen 3 days before the next game, but 10, plus there’s a bye in 3 weeks. If he’s recovered 5 1/2 weeks from the injury, which is entirely possible no matter how bad the sprain was, that’s the Ravens game and he won’t be able to play cause of this IR decision. I don’t agree with that decision.
They shouldn’t have put him on IR. What if he’s ready to go in 4 weeks? Then instead of playing against Buffalo and Baltimore, he’s benched. All so they can add a jag in the meantime.

I'd also make mention that we also have endured some Injuries. This is going to put more pressure on the offense to score points. Missing your best player on defense for an extended period of time is going to be difficult.
True, I’ve had a couple of them and 4 weeks is not enough. But 5 1/2 weeks oftentimes is, which is what we have till the Ravens game. So, let me get this straight? In your FINITE wisdom, you'd risk bringing him back early and losing him for the play-offs instead of making sure he's 100% healthy for the last 2 games and the play-offs?
High ankle sprains RARELY are healed in 4 weeks.
Your take that they're doing this to get Swinson playing time is imbecilic and shows a ridiculous lack of understanding of the game of football.
