Milton already getting inquiries

Considering Milton probably won't have any impact since his job is to ride the bench, yes.
Uhh, no. Milton could be useful as a roleplay QB. Sometimes teams do this, have one guy who's good in most places and another guy they bring in at certain downs and distances because they offer more in those situations.

Say Maye is getting burnt by a team with a heavy blitz package and the O-Line can't keep him upright in the pocket. Take a try at giving Milton the ball and see if the escapability and ability to make accurate throws on the run that he flashed against the Bills' backup is an illusion or not. If he succeeds, try him again in the same role, see if he can be a situational answer against blitz heavy teams, and build from there, using both QBs where they work best.

Having 2 quarterbacks with different skillsets split time based on the situation isn't a new idea in the NFL. I could give the example of Taysom Hill who made it work at times for the Saints. I also remember Brian Flores using Brissett as a QB sneak specialist while they were Dolphins together.

Bottom line, Maye and Milton bring different looks and there might be an opportunity to split time like that.

All this guy's done is improve, and when given the opportunity, played his ass off.

I don't understand all the ****ting on him in this thread. We'd better hope that Maye doesn't have concussion issues going forward, he had 3 this season.

Joe Milton will win an important game at some point. Hopefully the ****ting will cease then.
I didn't think I was ****ting on him. Dude played well, has a ton of upside. I 100% want the guy here.

People need to calm down about Milton.
1. Bills were playing 3rd string D - it's exactly how Joe would look in preseason.
2. Joe still holds the ball a long time. And for some reason our OL looked like a pro team for the first time all year.
3. He has skills, no doubt, but will need to learn to beat a gameplan defense.
4. Better than Zappe! So keep him around. At best its a RG3 / Cousins situation - if Maye collapses or gets a major injury next year.
1: These guys are still professionals. Don't act like the ability to execute well against weak teams isn't half of what it takes to be a successful NFL QB. Or that it's been easy for this Patriots squad to do what Milton was doing even against the weakest squads out there. Of which we clearly are one.

2: One of the reasons for that is getting penetration into the pocket wasn't a guaranteed sack. Milton stayed upright by scrambling, and was able to make accurate downfield throws across his body like the one to Boutte for the touchdown.

Yeah, Boutte got that open because of a F-up by the backup safety, but Milton still had to hit him, on the run, across his body, with his momentum going the other way, and he did. That was an elite throw. It was only one elite throw, but it was still an elite throw.

Also one of the big reasons Boutte was able to get that wide open was because Milton kept the play alive long enough for Boutte to get deep and exploit the mistake by the safety

3&4: Agreed

They're on the roster of the 2nd best team in the conference.
Most of them would be starters on the Patriots.

I am guessing those inquiries right now are along the lines of “hey that kid looked good, how about a 4th?”
And I'd say to them: "How about a 2nd and a 4th and a 6th. No? Good Day Sir!!! "And by the way, if he has a solid camp and Pre-Season and continues to improve, the price only goes up".

Like I was telling Jim Beankie …I’d be surprised if Milton is backup here next year because other teams need QB now and even though he is still raw in a lot of ways, he has a huge upside and incredible athleticism!!!! Even though I hope he’s still a Patriot next year , wish Joe best of luck either way…!!!

send him to Cleveland. they will offer their first round pick if we take Watson. He can sit with Kraft in the owners box

I would absolutely take a 4 for Milton right now and sign Jameis Winston in FA.

Fact of the matter is that Milton ain’t playing as long as Maye is healthy. And a 4 could be a solid OL-man…..

He had 3 concussions in 11 games.
The irony is that I believe all of them came from him running around and not protecting himself when we all thought the OL would've been the reason why.

That is not a good start for him.

It's Tua Tagavailoa territory.

The last thing you want in a playoff run is Maye getting another concussion, and bringing in Jameis ****ing Winston.

Top 10 pick or……

Or Jacoby well-cooked brisket Brissett.

And, the way things have gone so far the promising career ahead of Maye could quite possibly be cut short by his reckless risk taking.

WHO are these interested teams ?

Yeh, but I've seen more effort from a corpse. Bills back-ups were barely pretending to try.

Not ****ting on JM3. He's our backup for next season.

The people crapping over him are Belicheck fan holdover that hate the idea that anyone post Belicheck has something successful.

If Wopf drafted 2 excellent QBs it would hurt their egos

His excellent mobility and quickness is an asset, but they NEED a solid OL (including step right in and not miss a beat backups) so that he only has to use that mobility to buy time or on designed roll outs, Etc. Also, he's had one CONFIRMED Concussion (and that may have been at the bottom of the "Concussion Scale" given how quickly he came back). He stated that the other one was just getting his "Bell Rung", inferring that it was the kind of hit that most players have gotten as far back as JV H.S. Football. As for the 3rd one, that was not stated to be a Concussion. Even so, him getting even hit in the head to any degree needs to stop NOW!!!

I was on the trade him now if there's an offer train, given the huge need for draft picks, but thinking right, they would have to spend a pick or money on another backup QB so why? if we bring a competent offensive staff, keep developing him, use him in some packages, tricky plays etc.
Exactly this. They’d have to basically start over with a possibly raw rookie next year and /or bring in or resign another vet or Jalopy. Makes no sense to do so.

I wouldn’t accept anything less than a 2nd round pick for Milton

His problem was accuracy & his accuracy looked good Sunday.

With the lack of quality QB’s in this year draft, I would keep him unless someone offers a 2nd round pick
