Miles Austin cut by Eagles

I'd rather they try to lure Brian Waters out of retirement to replace Kline

Not that I disagree with you (vs. bringing in a guy with no knowledge of our system), but Kline did get held terribly on that play where Barwin blew up Tom Brady. I think that's what Belichick was *****ing to the female ref about. It sure looked that way.

I'm fine with Amendola, LaFell and Martin.

Well, it's not like we have a lot of choice in the matter, seeing as how the only reasonable replacement would be to swap out Harper, who has limited knowledge/experience.

The problem is that they haven't included White enough in that Vereen type of role, as well as committed to running the ball. Those two things along with Chandler, would go a long way towards adding to the trio of Dola, LeFell, and Martin. Those are three more options right there.

BTW, eating burnt toast is one of the ways to get rid of a hangover. Something about the carbon in the 'burnt' part sucking out the alcohol or some such. Not that I would know since I only drink milk, but thats what I've heard.

The Eagles cut Miles Austin in order to give old friend Jonathan Krause more playing time.

Adding bodies (unless another injury is sustained) is not the answer, IMO. I just think we have to roll with what we have until we can get some guys back. Any addition would only be marginally better than the others at this point in the season. The Eagles have been terrible and are cutting WR's? What does that say about the player?

No, no, no. This guy has the worst case of alligator arms I have ever seen. Several of the Eagles interceptions were simply cases of Austin not even attempting to go for the ball or even attempting to break it up and minimal effort on his part.....

We sometimes overlook the most obvious problem in attempting to bring in an outsider in week #14, and that's that he has absolutely zero knowledge of our system.

At the position of WR, that's a big problem. It's hard to imagine him coming in and somehow overtaking Martin, LaFell, Amendola, or even Harper, for playing time.

Austin Collie claimed to have spent almost a month straight from about 5am to 10pm every single day attempting to learn the system, and there were actually some similarities aside from the verbiage. Even then he only caught a few balls during that time, and was most effective in the garbage time loss to DEN in the AFCCG due to lack of viable options. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

Not quite. Word has it there was a message being sent by Chip to his Team in turmoil. A veteran was sacrificed. Austin is streaky. He is perhaps the second highest paid WR on the Eagles. I just do not think he was a fit for Chip's fast pace offense. He is averaging 17.2 YPC on a poor passing team. Riley Copper has started 9 games for the Eagles and his production was about the same as a bigger WR.

As just a few years ago he caught 66 with 6 TDs. I have seen him take over games as a Cowboy. Let's face it, Sanchez and the inconsistent Bradford are not Brady.

Someone said he was awful with the Browns. Now there is another QB factory. Not really awful. He had 47 receptions and a 12.1 average last year for the Browns. "Moreover, he is becoming a 'safety blanket' for Brian Hoyer that all quarterbacks like to have. He is a veteran player who knows how to run precise routes, is big enough to go over the middle without fear."

He is also 6'2". I see Martin as a smaller catch radius with mediocre hands. I think LaFell is not last year's version. I think that Austin comes in and is our #2 WR day one after DA. The challenge is how smart will he be. Can he pick up the "O". The down note is he has a tendency to Drop one or two (see LaFell). I saw many drops from everybody Sunday. Catching 47 from Hoyer is like 90 from Brady. I am sure TB can get the intel.

Austin has got to be better than what we have minus DA for the last 4 games of the regular season. He is 31 DA is 30. We would have all wanted to see the 34 year old Welker back. Could be a real " feel good" story for he and the Pats.

Where am I wrong here?

In addition to just being terrible this year, it seems that Eagles fans are convinced that Austin was the guy who leaked stories about locker room problems. If that's true, it sounds like an awfully good way to make sure you never play in the NFL again.

No thank you.

I wish I would of known about this the morning after SB XLIX
