Now that Josh McDaniels has had a year under his belt as the unoffical OC, the Patriots will announce that he is the OC. This will be sometime after the SB during the FA period. This is what Parcells did with BB before he was named as the DC of the Giants.
Yes, yes and yes.

I would be completely shocked if Martz were hired by the Patriots. I think Beli will continue to hire from within and carry over the current philosophy. It seems like he's happy with younger guys who are willing to learn.

Considering that this year I have seen some of the absolute worst play calling ever, I would be PISSED if Mcdaniels was named the OC.

Really? I actually expected less success on offense, particularly after the injuries at RB and on the OL. But I'm not sure how much of that success can be attributed to McDaniels.

You beat me to it. I belive it has already been determined that Mike Martz will be our next offensive coordinator. And, I approve. Not that it matters what the hell I say.

I predicted he'd be our next OC months ago. Too bad the Evil One ruined the thread archives, or I'd be able to prove it.

i seem to recall some pretty outrageous calls by His Majesty Mr Weis.
there were planty of complaints ON THIS BOARD when Weis was calling the plays. remember the first miami game last year, when he squandered a minute off the clock in the 2-minute drill? caused the game to go into overtime?

that said, mcdaniels does seem pedantic. i beg the football gods, please not another bomb to andre davis up the left sideline. but mcdaniels is probably sane in his thinking about playcalling, and the ND offense confirms that weis is not.
i guess when what you want is 'unpredictable', you gotta accept some 'bizarre'.

Keep in mind that BB has final say on the offensive game plans. If he did not think those plays to Davis would work he would not run them. I don't believe BB is inept with the offense as others think.

I think the coaching right now is great. I don't see the need to shake things up with a colorful personality like Martz. Don't get me wrong,he could really do some good things here, not knowing him personally he just seems to be portrayed as an overbearing and egotistical jerk. Ofcourse I could be wrong,he might be a nice guy who is misunderstood. Just seems to risky.

I think as long as we keep our core of coaches in place we'll be fine. I really like Dante Scarnecchia and Matt Patricia. I think they may be some of the most undervalued coaches in all the NFL. I have always wondered how one of them would fair in somewhere like Houston? Could they bring that motley bunch together to atleast look respectable? Besides Denver and Pittsburgh, I can't think of finer o-line coaches in the nfl.

Martz will probably have a couple of offers to be a head coach.

That SOB in Miami is too dadgum efficient to suit me.

i like martz. i would welcome him coming here...
but last i heard he was going to oakland. i have a link somewhere here...
Names that have surfaced as potential successors to Turner are Martz, Baltimore offensive coordinator Jim Fassel, Ravens' quarterbacks coach Rick Neuheisel, former Raiders coach and current NFL vice president Art Shell, and Fresno State coach Pat Hill, who has NFL experience.

Martz's ego is waaay too big to fit in here, as an OC no less. The guy would want to be a head coach period.

So let him go to Oakland, where I'm sure with Randy Moss there will be alot of talk about a flashy offense, which will ultimately come up short again.

The Patriots like guys who have grown in their system, like it or not. Seeing the results its produced, I like it just fine.

Oh, and I also have continued wishes for Martz's good health. I don't think the Rams handled that situation well at all.
