Lombardi was on Eisen today and did a pretty good segment. The whole segment is about 29 minutes, but the most interesting was his story about SB49 and the pass at the end.
In summation, he says that the goaline 3 corners defense had been practiced all year but it was the first time they had ever used it in a game. Therefore, BB not calling timeout was so Pete and the gang wouldn't have extra time to figure it out. Basically Pete knew he couldn't run against that front and hadn't seen that from NE before. So they too, a shot with a play they've used in similar situations all year. In essence, BB baited Pete.
Very interesting. The SB 49 part starts around 9:43. Overall it's a good watch/listen in my opinion.
