Surprising to see two AFC teams at the top as most observers think the NFC is far better this year.

Though I suppose it is due to level of competition. The AFC is weak so there are less contenders. Its easier for the two elite AFC teams to get a chance at the Superbowl.

your 2nd paragraph is correct logic. They're not as "good" but they have an easier road to the big game. All the Pats have to do is play one great team to make the SB, assuming you agree with me that Denver is overrated and Houston is the only good team in the conf.

Some of our fans are definitely showing a lot of fear of loss to the Giants. I can understand the humiliation of a third defeat. It scares me too.

But shouldn't we face our fears? Just saying if we don't, it's always going to be there...

Besides, I have nothing against Eli and he's not playing against Brady even if he gets his third ring. He's playing against our defense. But on the flip side nothing would be more satisfying than Brady and the gang doing what they failed to do this past superbowl and blowing that defense apart. Nothing would make me happier than to see Tuck's and JPP's face after such a loss. They hounded Brady enough. It truly would be the sweetest of revenge. It's not our mouths that need to be shut. It's those 2.

Agreed. If Eli's going to get a third, I want them to have to beat the Pats to do it. Given the Giants' scary propensity to pull rabbits out of their hat in big games, the Pats are the only team I trust to at last know how to beat them.

If they should beat us a third time in a row in the big game...well, I think we'd have to look in the mirror and not blame extraneous or imaginary forces.

Its not fear its common sense, if we play them we will find a way to blow it, its not even logical for me to pretend we will handle business, we had blown two dominant seasons to them, its not some random misfortune.

I think the danger w/ the Giants is that they may be in the Patriots' heads at this point, much the way the Patriots are in the heads of many of the other teams in the league.

Facing the Giants a 3rd time might lead to a "desperation" factor that isn't really healthy in a championship game. I remember when the Bills went to their 2nd SB, and probably should have won easily over that Redskins team, but they kept talking about not wanting to "be like Denver," and Madden even said "I think the Bills want this game TOO much."

You have to be loose to win a SB.

And, the Giants just match up well w/ the Pats.

Yes sir, its mental, meaning if we are 16-0 and them 8-8 we will still wet our pants, some don't like to hear it but I defended them until they blew a solid lead last year, no excuses. The reality holds more weight than the unknown what if's.

The following our instances of luck being on the Giants side...

1. Stephen Neal leaves the game early. Hochstein replaces him, the Patriots interior blocking, which was excellent on their opening drive, takes a dump.

2. Asante drops what would have normally been a sure fire INT for him.

3. Multiple instances of holding aren't called on the famous pass play against the Giants. Mike Carey swallows his whistle instead of calling in the grasp.

4. Catch is made and held onto by the helmet.

XLVI:
1. Literally every fumble bounces right into the hands of a NY Giant (typically Hynoski).

2. Gronk is hurt going into the game.

3. Patriots receivers drop otherwise easy and makeable catches on the last drive.

Some things were execution. Our O-Line not blocking in the first game, our defense not stopping anyone in particular in the second. But the Giants have gotten INCREDIBLY lucky in both.

Bring on the Giants. Their defense is awful this year, they're actually giving up more yards per game than the Patriots. This Patriots offense has the ability to put up 50+ vs them.

Green Bay, they are similar to the Giants in many ways but a few flaws.

They have no running game.

They have just as much, if not more talent at WR. But Cruz/Nicks is more explosive.

The Giants have three dominant pass rushers. Green Bay only has one, so if you can neutralize Clay you'll be okay.

They're just a little more one demensional, all they do is pass. Get pressure on Rodgers and the Packers are in trouble. The Giants are still capable of beating you in the ground game.

So while Green Bay is similar to NYG, Id rather face the Packers.

And if that were to be the matchup, probably the best SB of all time, truly one for the ages. 2 Masters at work, at the top of their game.

I'm not thinking too much about the SB right now. I'm thinking of how this team will try and get past the Texans and Broncos. I have all the confidence in the world that they can do it, but they still have a lot of work to do.

As for who comes out of the NFC, I don't care a lot at the moment. Let all those teams beat up on each other, and if we make it to the big game again, we'll see who we're up against. If it's the Giants then so be it. Though I'm hoping it's not to be honest. So question to the posters here. Of the SB contenders in the NFC, who do you think the Pats would have the easiest time beating, and why?

Giants didn't win that last SB by luck, it was well deserved. Our execution sucked, theirs was brilliant when it mattered. Brady taking that safety was just wack---he had plenty of time to throw and had receivers open underneath, but he got greedy and wanted to go for a home run play like that 99yd bomb to Welker in Week 1 at Miami.

And its not the Welker missed catch that bothers me, its all those low percentage target throws to Branch that ended up being easy deflected incompletions for the Giants. It just seemed like the Pats never could get Hernandez into a rhythm to take some of the pressure off of Welker. Pats coaches just couldn't adjust and maximize Hernandez and utilize effective screens to Benny/Woodhead knowing Gronk was 25% healthy.
