Offensive output this year 38, 14, 38, 41 points.
Take away the #1 WR from that offensive equation, the same HOF-bound receiver who powered the two greatest scoring offenses of all time - Vikings 98 and Pats 07.
What do you get? A frustrated Tom Brady and a much LESS potent offense.

What do we get in return? Some crappy future mid round picks? A 33 year old CB who can't rush the passer?
This would signal REBUILD mode. Throw away this season, wait for Brady to get a year older and PRAY you have the draft of a lifetime in 2011.
I think that a very expensive HDTV is getting trashed at the Brady household right about now.

Wow, this is the dumbest **** I've ever read... oh wait I've read worse... in this same forum though. Everyone has gone stupid

It sucks, but Brady will be better off without Moss.

The stats don't lie, the Pats blew a ton of 4th quarter leads last year and it was mostly because Brady locked on to Moss way too much.

Do I think BB is packing it in? In a sense because this defense will not hold up and trading Moss takes away the big play threat. However, it's a bad trade if Brady gets pissed like he did with Branch.

In fact, the Dolphins made it very difficult for the Pats to score on Monday night with Moss. Their 6 points came off of a 16 play and 13 play drive. Take away those 2 blocks and kick return and you have a whole different ball game.

We won with patten, brown, reche Caldwell as our top receivers before

Losing Randy in the middle of the season hurts but it's not the end of the world or the season

Do you really think internally that the players had no idea something like this had potential to happen?

I think Brady and the team was preparing for this longer than you think

The pats never let internal problems rise to the surface until it needs to and the time was today

I just don't believe that BB would suddenly make a move like this on a whim. He must be getting something BIG in return or he has a plan for the WR corps. Because Tate and Edelman at #1 and #2.... really?? Welker will still be a weapon in the slot but he won't be nearly as effective without Randy drawing attention away from him. Welker will get mugged all day as defenses dare T+E to try to beat them. That could get real UGLY. Instead of forcing the ball in to Moss or Welker, he'll be forcing it in to Welker alone who will suffer several concussions as defenses know exactly who he is throwing the ball to.

you obviously know nothing about football, nor have you seen the pats play before 07

True they won with the likes of brown and patten at the position, but those teams had awesome defenses. This team isnt nearly as good on defense.

This is what I fear will happen.

That is true...you win

Don't worry, the running game will carry the team.

To mediocrity.

I think we need to sticky this statement on all threads. People forget what those teams were really like.

Prediction

Hernandez will take over as WR in moss spot ,after all he is a WR in a TEs body

I just dont understand why BB would make a move like this when the offense is the heart and soul of the team, why mess it up and put more pressure on such a young inexperienced defense that is going to have major ups and downs this season.

Referring to the past is also a dumb statement. What worked then doesn't mean it will work now.

Brady did fine throwing with Branch... don't know how you confused Brady with a idiot QB who forces plays... You guys act like we have the worst QB of all time. Brady has one off game and his specialty is now forcing the ball into coverage? We have Tom Brady, NOT Brett Favre.

Yeah those days of confusing and punishing opposing offenses are gone, this team today is only going to make some noise if the offense carries it, getting rid of your best WR isnt going to cut it.

Hernandez and his ROTY potential sped up a deal that was probably in the works for some time now

I truly believe this was premeditated before the season even started to happen at the bye week but pushed quickly at the bye week to calm down teammates who enjoyed moss and to get the team ready for Baltimore with some extra time to heal emotions.

Hernandez stardom helped it along IMO although he can't come close to stretching the field like 81

Those teams you are talking about had the likes of Seymour, Ty Law, Harrison, Milloy, Bruschi, McGinest etc. on defense. Those teams won because of defense. Do you see those types of HORSES on our defense?

IF you've got a mediocre defense and you take your offense down from top 3 in the league to mediocre what do you have left? An offense that's not dominating and a defense that is still struggling to rush the passer! That sound like a championship winning formula to you?? Something just doesn't make sense with this deal unless the Pats are getting a MAJOR piece in return.
