Brady’s competitive nature was palpable. In the new book “Belichick and Brady” author Michael Holley described a scene in which Brady and Eitzmann are walking off the field after a long afternoon of practice at Bryant. Brady was the fourth-string quarterback behind Drew Bledsoe, John Friesz and Michael Bishop. Eitzmann was battling for any spot he could find on the roster. Brady looked at his friend and said “I’m going to beat out Bledsoe. You watch.”

“That happened,” Eitzmann says. “At the time, Bledsoe is a god in New England and Tom is fourth string.He says `I’m going to beat out Bledsoe.’ I said, “OK, good for you.'”

The Patriots could very easily have 7 Super Bowls. If they had Dion Branch in 06 we would have beaten the Colts in the AFC title game. The Bears had no shot in the SB that year with Grossman. And those 2 Giants debacles....

Then again you can always look at it the other way.

All of our Super Bowl wins were reeeeeally close games (Even the Eagles game was down to the wire) - Can't really complain with 4 out of 6 titles with some incredible nail-biters.
