No, although I need to study him.So would you take him at 4?
A lot of Santonio Holmes comps are being made. He's got a bit of Chase to him. All the tools are there (wins at the line, smooth and agile routes, blazing speed), but his production was really up and down. I'm split. If we trade down within the top ten and take him, I wouldn't complain. At four I start to feel uncomfortable with the value proposition. But he does look a bit like Deion Branch or even Tyreek Hill. Is that worth the 4th overall pick? I'd almost say yes if it elevates Maye.
He only caught on during the CFP and I'd prefer a guy that hasn't been over used at the skill position. He only had two games with over 100 yards receiving. There's more production than Shemar Stewart, but there's still a bit of a production deficit.
I prefer a guy who's consistent. I'm not picking a guy at 4 that "only caught on" for two games. He only caught on during the CFP and I'd prefer a guy that hasn't been over used at the skill position.
Ok let's talk....
Matthew Golden who just ran a 4.29 officially.
He was not on anyone's radar until the CFP. That's when he climbed into the 1st round discussion.
After today a case could be made that we have a new name to consider at the top of the draft.
He seems focused on the trenches and TEs. But it's BS season. If Golden interviews well he's on my radar. I know for sure who's off it completely and that's Tet.And like last year when they wanted to trade back into the 1st Round to get Xavier Leggette, they won't offer enough to a team to get them to let them move up to take him. So they'll spend those draft picks from Rounds 5 through 7 to take guys that'll be PS Players at best like last year. Although I hope Vrabel doesn't allow that to happen.
I admit I'm intrigued by Golden. He's the same weight as Justin Jefferson, but only an inch shorter and he's much faster I believe. He seems focused on the trenches and TEs. But it's BS season. If Golden interviews well he's on my radar. I know for sure who's off it completely and that's Tet.
Jefferson was 6'1 1/4 202 at the combine. Golden 5'11 191. 2+ inches and 11lbs.I admit I'm intrigued by Golden. He's the same weight as Justin Jefferson, but only an inch shorter and he's much faster I believe.

When I made that post, his combine height had not yet come out. His scouting height was all that I had to go on. Also, when he was drafted, Justin Jefferson wasn't Justin Jefferson.Jefferson was 6'1 1/4 202 at the combine. Golden 5'11 191. 2+ inches and 11lbs.
Golden definitely faster but there really aren't any other comparisons to Jefferson.
I have read that between the ears is a thing with him. Not sure if that's talk to push him down in value or not. I watched a fair amount of Longhorn games this year, Bond was the guy until late, he was supposedly nicked up. Golden came on when Bond's production dropped. I think both will go R1 this year. If either were there at 38, I'd have a hard time not sending in the card for one of them.So would you take him at 4?

Vrabel is not going to take a WR with our 1st round pick.I was already high on Golden for his route running. He was described to me as a Deion Branch type who can quickly win separation with his route running. But the fact that he also packs 4.29 speed? Well sign me up, I'll take a faster Deion Branch any day!
As far as when to take him. I'm comfortable with him anywhere in the 10-20 range. We'd have to trade back but it shouldn't be hard to find takers for the #4 spot, just a matter of how much extra pick capital we can gain on a trade down.
