A good breakdown of three plays from Brissett. Thinks he has the traits to be a future starter.

Just on the eye test alone, JG is a much better QB than the Brisket. More polished and has that quick release, whereas Brissett has that LONG windup. Brisset has the stronger arm and is a shiftier runner (by only a little), but JG is an excellent young QB, way more accurate. Brissett, who knows.

We need to have someone replace Jimmy in time and Brissett has upside at least.

Why did we draft another QB? Meh, okay.

I don't think Jimmy is going anywhere. If Brady deteriorates in the next few years, BB will cut him. Jimmy will be our starter in 2018 (IMO).
What happens when he doesn't deteriorate? BB will trade him to save the potential future for some other coach? Please. This isn't cutting Bernie Kosar in Cleveland. BB knows his entire reputation/career/legacy is tied to Tom. TB would have to be Peyton Manning 2015 regular season level bad for the question to even become legitimate, and that's not going to happen.

Jimmy is as good as gone. That's why they just drafted Rando McDipshit in the 3rd round.

Mark Schofield at Inside The Pylon on Brissett:

Round Projection
Late 3rd – Early 4th Round

One- to Three-Year Projection
Brissett has an NFL future ahead of him, provided his future team recognizes the skill-set he brings to the table and employs him in an offensive structure that takes advantage of his talents. He is likely someone that will compete for the backup job in his rookie season and likely win it during his second training camp, if he is in the right organization. He should be a top-end #2 quarterback by his third year in the league, and will be competing for the starting job shortly after that.

Read the whole thing, it's a good breakdown.

Scouting Profile: Jacoby Brissett - Inside The Pylon

It's, admittedly, from before the recent season, but Bruce Feldman knows a thing or two about college QBs:

Guy supposedly has good touch and is very acucrate on intermediate throws. Needs to work on mechanics. Should be interesting summer, that is for sure.

I'm looking forward to watching him in the pre-season and seeing how much he does need to develop. He has the tools for sure.

I think you have to trust the coaching staff when picking a QB that is right for the system. McDaniels know's what is needed to excel and this guy is supposedly pretty good at reading defenses too.

BB will cut Brady? They'll trade him before they cut him.

Yes, because after all, it's not like we spend hours with those QB's, picking their brains, showing them tape, and giving them interviews.. yet a few posters feel they still know best.

That long wind-up won't fly with this oline.

Outside the box thinking on the pick. What if he was selected to make the Pats defense better?

He's a young, strong, mobile QB. I bet he can play well enough to approximate many of the opponents QBs during practice in game prep for the defense.

Why do you keep acting like the o-line we saw at the end of the year is the O-line were going to see this year and that there will be no improvement?

Patriots traded for a guard, 2 rookies are going into their sophomore year and the Patriots just drafted a guy who can play tackle and guard. I would say the Patriots are addressing the OL big time. We still have day 3 of the draft too.
