Keep fooling yourself into thinking that 3 meaningful games is enough to determine how good/bad any young QB is, especially when you only see the TV feed.

The fact that you thought the team would be looking for a QB at the bye shows how little you actually do know. If they didn't have faith in Cassel he wouldn't have been the backup for two friggin years in a row. The front office always does its due dilligence, and for two straight years felt Cassel was the best option, taking EVERYTHING into consideration, for backup QB. And backup QB also means "starter if Brady goes down". It doesn't mean "hold the clipboard, then if we need a QB go make a trade". WTF is the point of a backup?

In the very small, illegible print, it reads with the exception of the New England Patriots' quarterbacks, it is illegal to hit a quarterback below
the knees.

I see what i see and the guy is average!!!!!!!!!!!I just think they think Cassel will turn it around and i just dont see it.We will see who was right.

I love that tired old argument "I see what I see". Nothing to back it up but your "right to an opinion" and "see who was right". Of course assuming you are a Patriots fan, when you are proven wrong it is always "I'm glad I was wrong".

It's one thing if you predict things based on facts or even with some degree of evidence, but you have absolutely NOTHING. You don't know what plays are called, you don't have coaches' tape so you have no idea who was open and what the defense is doing, you have no idea what audibles are called, you have no idea what the coaches ask MC to do specifically, etc...

However you watched Brady last year and therefore set your expectations to that level and anything less is "average" to "terrible".

Cassel has played 3 games, has thrown 1 INT and has a good comp. %. Yet you have "seen" enough to know he is bad. With your amazing abilities you should either be employed by an NFL team or you should be making a killing off gambling on games. You have an inhuman ability to evaluate players based on insignficantly minimal data, you should be able to predict outcomes of games at an incredible rate.

why can't he hit a wide open Randy Moss on the deep ball? Why is the OC not calling more plays deep throws to randy moss more often? Don't blame it on the O-line, and don't tell me it's because they are double teaming moss. A good QB would find a way get it to the best WR in the league.
So, since Brady couldn't get the ball to Moss in the playoffs, you are saying Brady isn't a good QB?

You don't want to hear that they aren't throwing to Moss because he is double-teamed. Why is that? You think the game plan is to throw to the WRs who are doubled?

I see a 9-7 record or 10-6 most likely and a first round exit in the playoffs with Cassel at the helm.I seen enough of Cassel to think that the guy is average.I thought for sure that this team would be looking for a QB during this bye.Kevin O'Connell doesnt have experience yet.

What planet are you from that you think that an above average QB would be available now??? Perhaps the terms average and above average mean something different to you.

Me, I simply root that Cassel can become an 'average' QB. If so, AND if our Front Seven and D is what most fans expected this season we will exceed my expectations and make the playoffs.

Plus, if you studied BB and his QB criteria you would NOT have expected him to acquire a QB during the bye.

Belichick picked Cassel, not Orton, so that alone says that Cassel will be a star, well maybe not a star but a much better player than Orton.

BB doesn't make mistakes except for a few WRs.

OK, so in the NFL, you have below average, average, above average and off-the-board-awesome. In the current NFL, maybe Manning and Brady qualify for the off-the-board rating. Everyone else is in the other three brackets, possibly looking better or worse due to their supporting cast.

A lot of Average QB's win SB's, so I'll take average over below average anyday.

Average QB + Above Average offense = Quality Offense.

Seriously, if the D keeps games reasonable, and the O-Line gets some balls, you'll be singing a totally different song.

orton's oline is crappy, but to compound matters he holds onto the ball too long

Nobody's come up with that list of alternate QBs that would satisfy my 'easy' criteria?

Are u kidding me?Jeff Garcia!!!!!!!!!!!!I cant believe the homerism here.I have seen enough before the 3 games to think that Cassel sucks. Not even Belichick will save this guy from being what he is!!!I dont wanna hear that Garcia is not a good option. He is perfect!!!!

Shouting, throwing exclamation points and making outlandish statements doesn't make your idea any less idiotic and ignorant.

Ahh I see what I see!!! he sucks!! get him!! ahhhhh nooo! Garcia is perfect, that's why he's HOF bound and MVP and... uhh EXLAMATION!!!

Just trying to get my point across although everyone here is crowning Cassel.

I don't know of anyone who's "crowning Cassel". However, could you kindly provide me with that list of QBs that fit the criteria I laid out?

Find one post ever on this forum "crowning" Cassel. Once again you just throw around **** with no facts.

What exactly is your point? That Cassel sucks? Ok if that is your point then provide some evidence and your thought process. If you are not coming to this conclusion as a spoiled brat knee-jerk reaction, then you must have valid information, evidence and facts that will somewhat back up your opinion.

If you do not have or cannot provide any factual evidence behind it, then your opinion is worthless. Opinions are like *******s...

My point is that everyone needs to take their pom poms off and see Cassel for what he is.Its amazing to see so much support for this guy.I dont care how long he has been under the system, the guy is average.

I gave u a QB already.

Which is what? Average?

No above average QB is without a team.

Jeff Garcia does not fit the necessary criteria, on multiple fronts:

He was/is not available

He doesn't fit the Patriots' system (and we don't know if he could adapt)

He also doesn't fit the final one, "could pretty clearly have taken the team to Super Bowl contention if Tom Brady had gone down in the opening minutes of the first game of the Patriots season.", either.

On the other hand, he's got as many losses this season as Cassel has, so he's got that going for him.

Our point has been that no one can see Cassel for who he is. Especially not a bunch of fanboys on a message board. He has played three games in the NFL and already we have people rushing to make judgments.

This is like when everyone said Eli Manning could never win in the playoffs. It's a brash and completely unfounded judgment to make. Have some patience, please. I'll make the judgment when the season is over. Even then, Cassel might not be finished developing.

As Comeback alluded to... it is YOU "D-Money" who refuses to understand it is impossible to "see Cassel for who he is" when what he is will be changing from now until the end of the season and even beyond. NO ONE knows where his ceiling is and where he will peak, nor when.

No one but YOU (and some other blind haters) is attempting to make a definitive judgement of Cassel after 3 games.
