Maroney video

I know they could probably make me look good in highlight videos but the guy has an amazing combination of acceleration, cutting and vision combined with solid size. I also love the way that for a fast guy he will put his head down when needed and has the makings of a solid stiff arm - Dillon can help him there. He also looks very competitive and not scared to get in the defenders' face.

He looks like the complete package to me. Thank God the Colts didn't get him.

Hopefully drafting Maroney will turn out to be a silver-lining for our early exit from the playoffs.

Sue me if this has been already posted, but it really got me pumped up about the kid. The music is awesome too (for you fans of 'Last of the Mohicans'). If you want to skip to the best part, its at 2:25

Won't sue you ... but it has been linked here once or twice. but .....
some may not have seen it.

Watched it again ... and all i can say ... i can't wait ...

One thing I found intriguing was his apparent sense of how to change speed to let holes develop. He really seems to have significant awareness of the whole field and defensive player movement around him.

It will be interesting to see how that plays out in the NFL. There is a school of thought that in the NFL, the defense is so quick that you get at most one choice or cut and you have to make that very quickly and then stick with it. We'll see if Maroney can make the transition. Sure hope so. It would be great if the flip side were huge also where if he breaks thru the linebackers he has real potential for cranking out longer runs.

sorry if this has been asked before but what music is that?

Thanks for posting that. I didn't see that one. The one thing I like about this kid is that he doesn't dance around behind the line of scrimmage, and he has very good field vision.

You nailed it right there ! He really knows how to adjust his speed to allow his blockers to create holes for him, and to keep the would be tacklers off balance. He also forces them to take the wrong angle of pursuit based on his variance in speed and direction. It won't be that easy in the NFL but these are the qualities of great NFL runningbacks. Plenty of guys have speed and power, it's the intagables and subtleties that make the great ones.

Not to mention he just bounces off hits. To play football and not feel the hits is very big. We got a good one.
