"CZAR'S FRONT OFFICE TAKE: Laurence Maroney makes sense with Corey Dillon slowing down, considering he rushed from over 3,900 yards at the U. of Minnesota. Some teams preferred DeAngelo Williams of Memphis over Maroney, but who can question the trade record of Bill Belichick and Scott Pioli? Maroney was the highest -rated player left on the Patriots' draft board. Maroney's style suits the passing game, but not a power-running team like New England. He should be an ideal third-down back and had a super game against Ohio State, a team with three first-round draft picks already.

I read that too and totally disagree. The dude has bigger skills and potential. Why would we waste a 1st round pick on a guy who plays 1 down.
 
changes happen..we might not need big backs anymore.
