Marcus Cannon The Best Story of 2016

Just tweeted this but I really do believe it. This is a guy who might have been out of the league right now had it not been for Scarnecchia, especially after how last year ended and the amount of criticism he received. Instead, thanks to Scar's help and the work Cannon put in to improve, the Patriots have a solid right tackle who has had arguably one of the best seasons in football.

It's yet another terrific chapter for a guy who has already overcome quite a bit to get to this point, and it's been great to see it work out for him. And as a result, the team has benefited as well and is poised for another championship run. Good stuff.

Legitimately can make the case Cannon is the best RT in football. If voters had a clue Brady, Butler, and Cannon would be the Patriots' All-Pros.

I just remember him being crucified all over social media after the season and I believe he even deleted his Twitter account. Great to see him bounce back like this, definitely happy for the kid.

That stuff disgusts me. A little OT, but one can damage a person's state of mind so much with as much hate as he was receiving. Don't anyone dare tell me words are just words; when you're failing at your job, can't figure out why and everyone is ripping you apart because you got their favorite QB sacked consistently, it wears on you. Also, based on the fact that no one would harass that man to his face speaks to the volumes of vile that permeates those messages.

Makes me enjoy his successes all that much more, baby. Make the money, be the man and finally let all those haters enjoy their crow as their stomach upsets at the thought of their stupid, unnecessary actions on social media. Count the bills and rings while others count the list of **** they've regretted posting to Twitter.





But yeah dude, totally stoked about Cannon's story.

Well the one group that ISN'T surprised at Cannon's play are the Patriot FO. They were the ones who gave Marus 2 extentions, BEFORE the word finally got out to the public that Cannon was one of the best RT's in the league.

Personally I think some of the problems with Cannon were fixed by Dante. I read where Googs had his linemen more over their feet than Dante. But I think the majority of his problems last season were injury related, for both he and Volmer. I don't think either play that last game if it wasn't the AFCCG and there just wasn't anyone else left.

Bottom line - The mediots and fans didn't believe in Marcus Cannon, but the Pats certainly did....despite our protests.

Great story. Maybe a lesson to be learned for some here- before you go mouthing off (or typing off) about somebody, maybe you should make sure you have all the facts first. Marcus played hurt last year and that had an effect on his game. Wasn't the only contributing factor, but it played a part. Amazing that some people forgot how well he played the year before.
I'm really happy for Marcus. And I KNOW TFB is too.
