Manning not in Brady's league

This thread is ******ed. If Brady was wearing blue and white and Manning blue and silver you'd be saying the exact opposite.

Peyton Manning is either the best or second best QB in the league and a top 5 all time QB. His accomplishments in no way diminish what Brady has done and while for my money Brady is the QB I'd most want to have here there is nothing wrong with acknowledging, however begrudgingly, how great Manning has become. There is no way you can say he choked today.

I honestly do not know why some of you seem so antagonized by Manning. It's immature.

I gotta tell you that your avatar(s) is pretty bad...annoying

Manning had a good game today... if he was on your fantasy team. Manning made a terrible throw on the pick six to Cromartie, a terrible throw right in the hands of Merriman who got all Reche Caldwell on a motha, made a stupid decision on a shovel pass to Keith (the one that wasn't picked but was just as dumb), got happy feet late in the game despite a near perfect pocket on almost every drop back, and felt the need to be the hero and go deep on second and third downs when all he needed was five yards for the first down. He played great up until the first interception, after that he was spotty and played like he had a stick up his ass.

He is a very, very good quarterback and in that first half was damn near flawless, but when the game was on the line in the second half he had a very poor showing. That's the rub on Herman Munster, "it is what it is," and saying so does not diminish what Brady has accomplished or how he plays (please explain to me how that stupid logic works).

Brady is the better quarterback..

It does Brady no good that so many of his fans seem so intent on disparaging & diminishing one of the outstanding QB's who he is playing in his era.

If I spend money on a Jersey with "12" on it rather than oreo cookies, it does benefit Tom Brady. He gets a portion of those jersey sales. Meanwhile, Nabisco shareholders are left to wonder their latest advertising campaign is a choke.

Interesting take. I'm not being cute here, but do you think Indy would have 3 if the QB's had been switched at the start?

Which is why it's silly to compare like that. It's a chicken or egg theory of is it the QB or the Oline and supporting cast. I think it's the right person being placed in the right situation that makes a QB great.

If Montana had been on the Bengals, who knows how good he would have been.

I agree with that. The 1st thing I thought when I read the other statement about no way Manning having 3 SB wins if he had been on the Pats was that there is probably no way Bill Belichek does NOT have 3 SB championships by now, even if Hasselback or someone like that was the QB.

That said, I really don't think there is too much question Brady is better, but I also think Brady will go down as the best of all time, at least until someone more amazing comes along. If Manning is #2 to him in this era, it's really not such a black eye.

I think something subconscious was at work for all of the Colts today; I really think they didn't want that rematch.

jcdavey, I recognize your name from the days I used to visit Chargers.com

Welcome and I look forward to reading some of your posts in the coming week.

Yes I do...maybe 4 They've always been just a big game QB away from going to & winning several SB's....think about it.

I also didn't think Manning gave that fatalistic face he has put on in the past, and he definitely didn't choke. That shot of him on the sideline gritting his teeth looking very determined was something I hadn't seen from him before. His numbers were great, but it's absurd to say someone chokes if they're not able pull off a miracle drive all the way up the field with under 2 minutes left against a good defense, like Manning didn't do today or Brady last year, and it takes more than the QB to pull it off too.

I think there have been some transitions the Colts have had to go through this year that haven't gone as seemlessly as they could have and the Colts haven't quite been clicking on all cylinders like they were last year because of the integration of new players due to injury and timing, schemes etc. didn't go as well as it could have. I also do have to blame Dungy a little bit because I think the way they ended the season was weak, and they rested Manning and his newer teammates a little too much, when they could have been fine tuning and practicing during in-game situations, the way Brady was with his new receivers when he was "running up the score" by playing a full 60 minutes.

Brady has always been a better QB than Manning, and it is only the absolute inability of people like you to get real that keeps Manning in the discussion.

All I have heard from Colts fans over the years was that if Manning only had Brady's defense, he would have won all those superbowls and more. Yet with the number one defense in the league, Manning fell on his face against a completely beat up team with the officials simply giving the game away to the Colts.

Manning choked in a HUGE way today. Anything short of winning the game is a choke job. All the stars where aligned for Manning and his team, what more could he possibly ask for than Rivers and LT on the sideline, the home crowd advantage, and the refs in his pocket.

This was as big a choke as all the others.

I disagree with that. For years, and at a time when the adage "defense wins championships" applied more, they really didn't have a D. At the very least, Brady's 1st Superbowl win w/ the Pats was in a large part made possible by the D, and most of the Superbowl runs have featured excellent defense to go with solid & sometimes spectacular QB play.

I don't see it. I still think New England has 3 SB wins (okay, maybe 2), and maybe Indy has 1 more. In that respect, without Brady & New England, Peyton might very well have 2-3 by now w/ Indy.

Kind of like Agassi. Without Sampras, he'd be the one w/ 12-14 majors, but he's still regarded as a great. Just not as good as the very best of all time.

I know your board is pretty tight to visitors JC, but our mods are very fair. Not that you were ever a trouble maker like me

I got banned from the chargers board for "defending a cheater" that was the reason your mods gave me.

Have some fun posting here. We're like every other board. some will welcome you and some will tell you leave. Overall, there's some pretty good members here. The key is for you to find them!

have fun!

I have to admit, my comments are just my slighted opinion. It's a debate which can never be resolved, but fun never the less.

To close the game out, he went 1 for 7 with a pick.
That's not exactly "clutch".

Probably long before you were born, choke fairy.

Manning was spotted 7 points by the refs, and another imaginary pass interference that was a perfect scoring opportunity, and like usual he couldn't deliver.
