Malcolm Butler's tackle on the 3rd down play:

I don't care if it's thread worthy or not. That was a Helluva stop by Butler on 3rd down to keep Pitta short of the first.
Kid's a baller and a fierce competitor.

This is part of why Malcolm Butler is a -must- resign for the Patriots imo.

We've enjoyed having some great CBs over the years from Ty Law, Asante Samuel, Aqib Talib, to Darrelle Revis... and Butler stands out as being in the same top tier at corner.

Please BB lock up Butler and Hightower!!

I had a moron behind me calling Butler a bum the entire night..when he made that stop i turned around and said...he's a bum now huh?

He's a great competitor for his size. Play's big for his size. Wish he was taller. I am hoping rowe can be a good number 2.

Those two guys will be at least 23 million. Someone might overpay.

I don't see Malcolm at the level of those players in their prime- yet.

Holy crap - I had to watch that five times to even figure out what I was seeing...silly me, I was looking PAST the line of scrimmage.

I'd love to hear Smith's comment on that!
Me, too. Then I was like, "Whoa."

Malcolm is physical, great tackler and he blankets #1 WRs
, plays thru the whistle every down..What he means to this defense and this team cannot be overstated. Bill please pay this man...I want him here long term...

I've been in the "let him play out his RFA tender" camp for next season, but I think it may be time to throw out some reasonable offers for an extension. The concern is that he'll just become more expensive for the 2018 season and beyond.

No, I don't either, but he's currently leading the league in PBUs and plays with a lot of physicality.

He has not yet reached his ceiling in my opinion, but even if this is it, he's still worth 10-11 million dollars a year. Maybe even 12.

So 8 or 9 for 3 years given the rfa option.

I'm starting to think that they may not even risk the RFA tender, even if it is a first-rounder in compensation.

You still use it as a chip at the bargaining table. I think the 1st round tender is 4 mil IIRC. So 3 for 24 say first 2 yrs guaranteed (8x3, so 16 guaranteed) plus a team option for a 4th year @ 12 plus performance escalators in yr 3/4? Maybe probowl escalators, games played clauses as we've seen the team lean on of late. Fair to the team for giving up the rfa chip, reasonable for Malcomb for losing the risk of rfa/franchise tag (although i dont know what the tag # is for corners).

Can't help but wonder if those numbers are a bit low, but I hope a deal gets done.
