Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

Well, that 4th and 2 worked. To this day I am stunned at the levels in which Goodell will go.

The replay is there for anyone to see. Nothing like your stomach turning to jelly when you know you've been completely jobbed at the end of a game.

As for Butler, why should BB leak out all the specific details to sabotage his pending FA status?

It's clear it was a combo of things that forced his hand. I'd stop listening to Felger and Mazz, because they never have it right.
you might pass me for posts soon

Grady Little - a good coach? A wee bit of a stretch. Belichick’s resume might be somewhat better.
They gave Grady little stats, like Pedro sucks after 100 pitches and he threw it in the trash can as evidenced by his non-move on the 2003 series. BB has always been ahead of the curve as far as stats go and probabilities. That's why I find it hard to reconcile his not playing MB in the super bowl. Sure he didn't have his A Game against Jacksonville but he could have tried him.

So past Malcolm at this point. Bring back the Adam Seward thread.

Until we hear something there’s not much to mull over. It’s over with anyways. Sadly

Grady didn't need stats. Everyone watching the game saw Pedro getting knocked around.

Because the crap sundae that was the previous 84 years really needed that extra 'special' cherry on top
I don’t, and wasn’t at the time, living in Boston. But I can only imagine the depths of dispair that came after watching decades of futility, then to be in a position to erase it, only to have your archenemy rip your heart out. I was actually much bigger into baseball then than I am now and I remember being depressed about that one as a teenager in Florida.

It wasn't quite too many men on the ice or Bucky F Dent but it was that generation's version of it.

That loss played a part in making the comeback the next year as sweet as it was, IMO.
I agree. 2004 was as sweet as I can remember. Never thought they would get past those pricks.

I was born in 1986 so I don’t remember that. I’m sure my dad wasn’t happy though.

Teenager in ‘04 - you did not suffer at all. Try being 1 strike away from the World Series win.

Who'd have ever thought we'd have such an embarrassment of riches since the turn of the century that we can now talk nostalgically about our misery instead of losing our sh!t over it? Damn, it's good to be us. Which kind of further proves how foolish all the whining in this thread is.

I almost remember 2003-2004 as one long season...first, Josh Beckett prevented the Yankees from winning the series. Then we went instantly into that off-season with Curt Schilling over Thanksgiving, then the whole Arod thing...into that amazing season (Veritek smashing Arod's face, that great game with Jeter diving into the stands [drama queen], etc.) to down 3-0 and beyond. Just crazy.

Honestly, think baseball might have had its all-time US peak right there.

here is what everyone said:

“if he gets through the 7th, great job.” williamson, emberee and timlin were lights out all postseason.

when pedro came out for the 8th, i was surprised, but then everyone said: “if someone gets on, he is done”...

nope...grady little was the gostkowski of managing...the numbers don’t show you the truth of the reality.

Sox would have crushed the Marlins in that WS. I have no doubt at all about that. That team was awesome.

I’ll take it how things played out in 04 though
