Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

I think it definitely discredits the whole “Malcolm did something bad” theory. But I don’t think it means anything in terms of Brady being mad at Bill for the decision.
I tend to agree. Based off of it I think it is reasonable to speculate that a lot of players support Butler. If he did something egregious to get benched, I don't think there would be this outward support for Butler.

For instance we have some people in here basically saying 'Butler screwed the team'. The support of the players does not back that up at all.

It depends on his reasoning behind the like and post, but we'd have to guess on that, and I'm not going to do that. I'm not going there. That's what I meant by me not being one who's going to speculate on that.

Giving butler ZERO snaps in the superbowl, after he played 98% of the teams snaps prior to the game.

There are two sides.

1.)Those that think Butler should have played more then 0 snaps
2.)and those that can't think beyond "Bill made a choice so thats a choice"

You have chosen option 2.

We now have statements from BB and Butler saying he didn't break any rules.

So instead of blaming butler its time for you to either defend you blind faith in BB choosing richards and bademosi over butler, Or for you to leave the discussion.

I never stated either way Malcolm committed an infraction. I said it was possible. Go back and read my posts.

Bill made a football decision. That is what he said. In his estimation, Malcolm was not to be trusted to play in the game on any level.

That's how discussions work.

Of course i know you are not going to defend your stance, so i don't know why i'm even trying to explain this.

If you intend on behaving like a condescending jerk, we are done.

Until we see evidence to the contrary (pics of Butler partying, reports from someone on the team, etc.), both Belichick and Butler should be believed and the decision to keep him on the bench after halftime in favor of Bademosi and the Big Nickel is as egregious an error as he’s ever made here. It directly cost the Patriots their sixth Lombardi. I wouldn’t want anyone besides him coaching my team, but god damn was that a horrible decision. I feel bad for the players because the coaching staff and their outright refusal to go away from a game plan that clearly wasn’t working did them in.

If I were Kraft I would demand a very specific accounting by Belichick on exactly what went into his decision and why. And if he refused, well...
LOL so you’d fire Belichick over this? Come on now.

I’m not having any trouble defending my stance. If you lose the trust and faith of others that’s on you, and in this case that’s on Butler. And the people disgracing themselves are the ingrate fans sh!tting all over a coach who has brought this franchise to 12 AFCCG’s and 8 Super Bowls, winning 8 conference championships and 5 Lombardi’s.

All these threads have done is demonstrate to the 31 that the Patriots have some of the worst fans on earth. Belichick should tell New England to pound sand and go coach a rival, that’s what you deserve.

You people are horrible fans who don’t appreciate anything and believe you are entitled to Championships. Suck it.
Questioning BB's decision does not mean he needs to be fired. just like when we say brady made a dumb throw, we dont mean hoyer should play. You are getting worked up because you think everyone is calling BB a tomlin wannabe and in the process insulting every other fan who is trying to reason why BB did this. Its quite presumptuous of you to assume that other fans dont realize what BB has done for this franchise and only you do.

Brady commenting on this speaks volumes, to me at least. Whatever Butler did, Brady thought the punishment didn't fit the crime.

Instead of going for the 6th ring to tie the Steelers in NFL History of "Most Super Bowl's", Belichick did what he thought was right. Whether I agree with it or not, I can respect the conviction of doing what he thought was right for the team going forward, not for one game; even though it blew up in his face.

It sucks. But it's over now, and I'd rather have BB as our coach than anyone else. I'd also rather have Tom Brady as our QB over anyone else. I sincerely hope a choice doesn't have to made between the two of them.
I think both will stay, but I do think there now becomes a slight chance that Kraft and Bill part ways.

Give me a chance to see Tom prove he can win with a new coach- IF it comes down to choosing one or the other.

Bill has already said he won’t coach to age 70 anyways, so he won’t be around much longer either.

Stop locking/merge threads. People deserve to be able to read this without having to trudge through that cesspool mega thread to find this. If you need to merge it do so after a few hours.

You would think brady would know why he was benched. Shouldn't he deserve to know? If he knows already then it wasn't as serious as some might have thought.

That’s fair. Tom has always been very careful towards the media, so we can’t make much out of this regardless.

he is under contract.. sorry your Jets can't have him azzz

I'm not buying this at all. It's patently disingenuous to assert Bademosi and Richards (who, let's be honest, has no business playing professional football) gave us a "better chance to win" than Butler. I'm 100% certain there's more to the story.

QuantumMechanic, Ivan, AndyJohnson.

You spent your time in several threads, on the losing side of this argument and you had the gall to call all of us who “dared” go against Belichick fools.

Come get the crow.
Please explain how “we don’t know the facts” is the losing side of an argument.

If you intend on behaving like a condescending jerk, we are done.

And here's Tom Brady contradicting you:

"You are always an incredible player and teammate and friend. Always!!!!!!"

Bill had a power trip on Sunday. No player's bigger than the rules. Would he have benched brady?

From Ross12 "Since this thread is basically just discussing Butler then I’m locking it - we already have a Butler thread."

The other thread is about Bill Belichick, not Malcolm Butler, and should not have been locked.
Quantum, you are a PITA. Go ahead and red X me.

We have the Head coach saying it wasn't disciplinary. Why are you so pressed to believe a bunch of beat guys reporting rumors and not believe your own coaches words?
That is what happens when bill make such an illogical decisions. Some people just can’t accept that he makes mistake, so they have to try to interpret his simple words.
