Mac Not Happy With the Groceries

Say what you want but his defensss played hard inspired football for him.
Yeah but look what he did in Buffalo when he went there. They had a good defense and he broke it because it wasn't his system. If he came here, he's rip up the only good unit we have so it could fit him.

I'm sure this will go well in the locker room.

I have a hard time believing this, if for no reason other than Mac saying "cannot." When has that kid EVER said "cannot"?

I was watching the Sunday Night game and thinking

Good point. Daboll hasn't been on the hot seat but could be now. Any other potential suitors? If it helps I'll give them a call and tell them what a genius Bill has been.
He's QB savant..another guy who was here. I'd absolutely take dabol back!

Quarterbacks don’t sprinkle magic fairy dust. It’s a team game. The offensive line needs to block better. The receivers aren’t getting separation.

Whoever built this offense must be a moron and the playcalling is atrocious.

Mac is just one guy. You’d understand this if you weren’t so QB-centric.
Go back and watch his 22 pass plays yesterday and tell me there weren’t a lot of plays he missed (not to mention the ones that never happened because he couldn’t stay on the field)

You’re missing the tongue in cheek of my post.

You realize he has failed with every nfl qb he worked with who isn’t josh Allen right?

Tom's reaction after reading Patsfans.com:

Felger thinks Mac could be traded by the deadline and maybe for Kirk Cousins. Trading Mac for a rental would be quite a statement to send to your first round pick about what the team thinks of him. I can’t see the Krafts picking up that kind of a contract either even if it is just a rental, the Vikings would have to eat a lot of it. Cousins would make the offense watchable at least.

A trade could happen though. I think if Mac sits starting this week he is on the block.

I bet these dudes are tired of getting told they suck when they rarely even get a chance to do anything. Yeah, the OL hasn’t been good, but even they’re not getting beaten on every play. They’ve protected long enough plenty of times and Mac’s done nothing with it besides crap on himself. Linemen probably wonder why they bother, and the receivers wonder why they bother if the QB needs the cleanest, longest-lasting, most perfect and stable 5+ second pocket with no one in his line of sight to be able to make a competent throw. This is why I think a QB change makes sense, because it at least gives them hope that the next guy would be giving a real effort.

Cousins makes sense to me if Bill is staying. Bill wants to win now and Cousins is a stable and solid veteran with a few good years left at least. He would only cost less than $10M of salary for this year to bring in.

The Vikings would gain a few million in cap relief this year and then incur a dead cap hit of around $28M in 2024. But if they lose another couple games they may be inclined to get younger at QB and go for a top pick at QB to pair with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson, Alex Mattison and the rest of that potent group. They’d be really good with one of the top QBs next year.

Meanwhile Bill can gain immediate stability and veteran leadership at QB. He can sign a new extension for Cousins to push the bigger hits a few years out and focus on acquiring OL and WR help to go with him. They would probably miss out on a top 5 pick this year but may still be top 10 so could fill one of those needs in the first round. They have lots of cash to fill their needs coming up if they are smart with it. They can trade Mac to some other team, not necessarily to the Vikings themselves.

I mean we could get Cousins. But he isn't making this a winning team and it at best kills our chance at the Caleb sweepstakes and getting a generational prospect. I'd rather just rip off the bandaid at this point. We are 1-4. You don't come back from that.

If the lineman were independently performing well and the receivers were getting adequate seperating, I'd agree. But they are still amongst the worst in the league. Last week Mac was getting pressure on half the plays. On the other half, I can tell you right now the receivers were not getting separation on all those plays. So when a fraction of half of the plays you get good protection and at least one receiver getting open.... yeah the times Mac screws up on his own are going to be more noticeable. But the truth of the matter is they aren't blameless either. They suck at both pass and run block. Zappe got pressured and couldn't do anything the last two weeks either when they made a switch.

This isn't a situation where the QB is getting babied and we are acting like he needs this pristine long lasting pocket. It's legitimately one of the worst pass protections in the league, if not the worst. And the receivers have their own problems.

Its a 5hitshow and the worst is yet to come.

Buffalo is going to plaster the Pats just off the Dallas and New Orleans film alone.
Zappy Smurf will save us! 7 teams wanted to sign him to their practice squad so he has to be good! Lololol

Or was it 8? Either one is freaking hilarious as a flex…

Can you research this game for us?

It's a team game, and I've been told QB's are the most important position in football.

You can get by with simply "good" QB play, but you can't win anything with outright "bad" QB play.

And I've said this since Al Gore invented the interwebs back in the early 90's when I was using dial up internet to log onto boston.com/sports/forums... despite you wanting to lie and misrepresent things I've said over the years. You're not fooling anyone.
