That can't be a first. I'm sure I remember goal stands like that late in games.
I can't say for sure one way or another. I know I have seen 1st and goal on the 2 or 3 yard line not succeed. And I know I have seen 1st and 1 become a fg. But this could be a record. But as I said, I can't be sure.

Several years ago in the heyday of Buddy Ryan's Eagles, the Cardinals (were they still in St. Louis or AZ??? who cares) had a 1st and goal at the one. They failed the first two times but there was a penalty on the Eagles on the second play giving them a new first down. They tried 4 more times but failed to score.
!st and goal at the one and they failed 6 times to score............
Good lord, that's no record. How many times has a team been stopped on the 1 needing to score a TD to win the game and failing to convert 4 times? Didn't we stop the Colts in this situation in 2003 (big McGinest play)?

I'm gonna have to use that one! Hilarious!
The Colts actually started 1st and goal on the 2 in that game, and gained on yard on the first down.Good lord, that's no record. I don't know what's funnier in your sig video...Alex Smith losing the ball or the fullback trying to block the DT.Ditto this.
That's right. Dan Bunz and Hacksaw (one of the best nicknames in history) Reynolds made big stops on Pete Johnson and Charles Alexander. The 49ers had a very famous goal line stand in the 1981 Super Bowl with the Bengals tried four times from the one and failed that might have changed that game. It has happened many times.
