We've heard:
  • Edelman started camp strong.
  • Amendola has been doing well, especially in Edelman's absence.
  • Dobson has been doing well.
  • Boyce has had his moments.
  • Gibson had a strong day, and some good moments previously.
Perhaps not coincidentally, we haven't heard that much good about successful DB plays except from Butler and perhaps Wilson. (However, Richards is learning quickly, and various guys get marks for "Covered the receiver well, so it was a great play to complete the pass against that.)

As for TEs, Gronk is Gronk, Chandler is getting a lot of work, and otherwise the TEs don't seem to be noticed much until they hit the waiver wire.

Does this all sound about right?

Not much about DBs today but generally I think a lot of things I have heard have been encouraging for them. Apparently a lot of competitive plays particularly by Butler, Ryan and Brown.

I also think the WRs are looking good and frankly if you have a good QB the offense has a massive advantage over D in these kinds of practices. The offense should generally win given the situation.

Indeed. That would affect the number of successful plays, flashes, etc., as well as the "He covered well and still lost" events.

I think one reason we are seeing multiple "good" outings from different WRs is due to the plethora of injuries at the position.

LaFell finally shed the walking boot, but he's yet to practice. Edelman hasn't been out there since hurting his ankle on Sunday. Dobson tweaked his hammy again, and Tyms was carted off with a shoulder injury.

Having 4 main WRs out allows more opportunities for guys like Gibson and Boyce. I wouldn't look too far into it myself, as Brady will have to throw the ball to someone. Obviously, it's good if guys like Boyce and Dobson show significant improvement throughout TC/preseason. I'd still like Gibson to make it as a WR5 if he can pick up the system, so hopefully he can take advantage of this opportunity.
