Lombardi: Randy Moss waived by Vikings [mergedx19]

We've all been saying to for a month: Man, Randy Moss must be kicking himself going from Belichick and Brady to Chili and Favre.

We were right. Now that he's gotten his wake up call, bring him back.

Re: Randy Moss Waived by Vikings

I have no idea. But whatever team claims him is taking a huge risk if he only wants to play for NE.
VERY good point

I could see teams putting in the claim to keep Moss from N.E., or to improve their team. Now, whether that press conference scared 30 teams enough that they won't pay the $6 million remaining is what we'll find out in about 24 hours.

Moss only has a bit over $3.5 million remaining on the contract. A contract that it's been mentioned, that Minnesota will be responsible for.

The only team that makes sense to me is Washington. Decent QB, good coach, decent team, lacking at WR.

New York Jets. They would pay $3 mill to do that to us.

Honestly, they scores 0 with Holmes, Edwards, and Cotchery. Sanchez can have 1000 WRs it wouldn't matter.

Why would the Jets want a "slouch"?

I honestly believe if the Jets put in the claim he would not report.

Re: Randy Moss Waived by Vikings(merged X3)

Bills lead the way first though.

Bills - maybe
Panthers - doubt it
Cowboys - no shot
Broncos - doubt it
49ers - doubt it
Bengals (with TO and OchoCinco) - no shot
Browns - damn
Lions - opposite Megatron
Vikings
Chargers (I hope not)

He aint getting past the first 10 in my opinion.

Not knowing, I ask: so are we sure the waiver order goes by teams' CURRENT record? If so, thanks CPFC for answering the key question!

I am just curious but can the Pats have contact with Moss? Can they tell him lets give it another try.

Come back to NE Mossy, its where you belong bud!

Lots of teams will be interested, but Moss HAS to be interested in playing for that team---- especially BOTH the head coach and quarterback situation

The only teams I can see Moss playing for are Philly and NE. Indy doesn't have the coaching(Caldwell is a spineless passive coach) to deal with the complex character that is Moss. Moss will walk all over that coach and destroy those "nice" guys they have over there.

I can totally see Moss in Philly. But will he want to play with Vick/Kolb? I have serious doubts about that.

Looks like NE or retire at this point!

Welcome back Randy

I think he will go unclaimed. 2 teams have given up on him this year, my guess is a lot of the league will be scared to pick him up

If you're a GM for a playoff contending team, do you pass on Moss and let the Pats get stronger at WR?

Or do you put a claim in on Moss and relegate him to a DNP status just to keep him away from the Patriots (chances are they wouldn't have to go the DNP route but even so... just to illustrate a point, it's not just about making YOUR team stronger for the remainder of the season... the priority could be preventing the Patriots from having a deep threat)

My feeling stands though... Belichick decided that Moss was more trouble than he was worth. His tirade against Childress affirmed that as a correct decision... Moss would REALLY have to convince Belichick he could keep his mouth shut for the remainder of the season to even earn consideration.

Actually I don't think that's out of the question - Moss has already hurt his own market value - he can partially restore it by being a good boy for the rest of the season - but I just don't see the Jets or the Colts or a whole list of other teams letting him drop to the Patriots.

I imagine he's getting texts from Brady, Faulk, and some other guys right now.

Well, I was listening to the radio, and they said it was about $6 million (Ordway's reporting it at $6.4 million). I'm not doubting you, just noting the discrepancy. $3 million would certainly be more palatable to a team like the Chiefs, who could really use Moss as a replacement for Chambers if they could feel confident that he'd give them his "A" game.

All i have to say is that you can't make this stuff up ... unreal.

Would we keep 6 receivers or does Edelman end up with the phantom injury?

First rumblings are in.. Seattle and Miami possibly going to claim Moss..

Miami and Seattle already expressing interest. Could claim him to block the Pats from claiming him

and now let's see if he will be back in Foxboro...

Yes - current record - worst team gets first dibs on waived players...

I think it less probable that the worst teams will claim him... more probable that a playoff contender will recognize the strategic value of claiming him if only to stop his return to the Patriots (assuming Belichick has determined that Moss' tirade against Childress is a sign that he can keep his mouth shut here...)

If I were the Jets or Miami I might want him back with the Patriots as he might cause trouble. This is such a mess and so interesting. I love Randy though
