Re: OT: Linehan was canned

Wow! That came totally out of left field. Never saw that coming.

What next? Lane Kiffin getting fired?!? I know that crazy since Al Davis looks at him like a son.

:bye2:

Re: OT: Linehan was canned

He is a good coordinator that was in over his head as a head coach in a relatively dysfunctional environment. Having the O line banged up as bad as theirs is doesn't help either.

When he left Miami for St. Louis Nick Saban was really surprised because he felt Linehan wasn't nearly ready to be a head coach.

A man's got to know his limitations.

How long before someone proposes signing him to the team as a QB?

Well-said; and even calling their FO relatively dysfunctional is an understatement. There are too many cooks in the kitchen, who want to receive the praise during the winning, but not accept the blame during the (consistent) losing.

That game should be easy pickings, but I thought the same way about the doofins game.

Re: OT: Linehan was canned

It's about time. It angers me when head coaches attempt to deflect blame from themselves by benching players, as if it falls to the players when the entire organization blows. Sorry Scott, it ain't Marc Bulger's fault that you're incompetent.

The Dolphins are a much better team at this point than the Rams are.

Sounds familiar *cough* Mangina *cough*.

Re: OT: Linehan was canned

The only real shock here is that it was Linehan first and not Kiffin, though Linehan deserved it more.

I've got to agree with an earlier post - Bulger is no Tom Brady, but to replace him with Trent Green??? That doesn't make a whole lotta sense, dude.

Plus isn't the ownership situation up in the air since Georgia passed on?

Re: OT: Linehan was canned

At least the firing of Linehan was handled with some amount of professionalism.

Al Davis is bringing Lane Kiffin a dinner of steak and macaroni & cheese, shaving his head, and offering a spiritual advisor, all while keeping him waiting in the Hole.
Leaking to the media that he is meeting with the offensive coordinator and other coaches about replacements?
Circulating negative ESPN stories to reporters?

I'm sure they will find another coach. But that kind of stuff sure can't make a girl proud of taking the money.

The doofins weren't really a 1-15 team based on talent last year; they were just mal-coached & mis-managed. The lambs, OTOH, have been in steady decline ever since Charlie Armey stopped calling the shots.
