Good first game.I am beyond ecstatic that we have another franchise quarterback in Mac Jones who has shown tonight that he is the real deal. I honestly never thought we wouldn't get that lucky again after Brady left, but it appears that we have.
Well, he had a nice first game, but let's not anoint him Brady 2.0 just yet. I am very excited to watch him grow and develop like everyone else, but I think we need to be prepared for some real stinkers too.
EDIT: I am 100% on Team Mac, just trying to temper my enthusiasm
I liked Romo, but early career Romo played more out of control than Mac did today. He reminds me of Tony Romo. Hopefully more clutch.
I didn’t see any Tony Romo in him. I saw a ton of 2001 Tom Brady. That doesn’t mean that he’ll continue to look like him now that defenses have film on him. That doesn’t mean that he’ll wind up improving to 2006+ Tom Brady in the future. It just means that he looked like 2001 Tom Brady today, and if he is able to keep that up we’ll be in good shape. He reminds me of Tony Romo. Hopefully more clutch.
It’s one game in a league where passing has never been easier, calm down. Just be cautiously optimistic. 2001 Brady was playing in 2001. And in 2002 went on to lead the league in TD passes. It’s a different world now.
There are many traits and things that we saw tonight that for a QB, you either have or you just don't and you never will. Mac Jones checked off many things on the list for us. Processing speed, recognition, field vision, poise, and accuracy are some of the things that you either have or just don't. No amount of practice will make any difference.

Edit: @Ice_Ice_Brady’s post above is what I’m talking about with 2001 Brady vs. later. I think the specific comparison with Alex Smith is a little pessimistic, but we’ll see.
I'll say it. Mac reminds me of Brady. The way he plays. His attitude. The way he carries himself. He even looks like a young brady. I am all in on mac 100 percent. I'm pushing all my chips in. there is no pumping the brakes. I'm stomping on the gas pedal, full speed ahead. He reminds me of Tony Romo. Hopefully more clutch.
